For anyone who missed it in the News & Rumours board thread:

Hurrah! We just broke 2000 likes, so now is a good time to share yet another teaser of the Broken with you. This model is our first shared, painted Broken figure, made with our all plastic, multipart kit that was teased at Salute this year. The kit makes 6 models, with 11 different alien head options. Keep an eye out here for the release announcement!

There's a fair few of those on the sprue. I kinda like the idea that the Broken have odd bits of scavenged spacesuit tech as part of their clothing. And ribbed 'cricket pad' armour on spacesuit bits has been cool since Alien, really.

That's what it was reminding me of! Might be why I'm more excited about these guys than the previous MEdge squishies. I kept looking at that guy and thinking, "I miss low budget practical effects."

What is the banana thing? Is that the weapon's sling?

It's a bit of cloth/rag tied round the weapon. But now I can't unsee a banana peel. Ah well, if ever I need to paint a banana, now I know the recipe.

Thanks for the clarification.

I didn't know if it might actually be a 'sling' sling.
Not familiar with the game so thought they might carry primitive weapons in addition to advanced fire arms.

Anyone know if the Broken guys all lizards (I think this guy is supposed to be lizard-y)? Or are there different species within the faction?

Different species all working together..sort of together. Most of them are probably humans, but there are enough aliens mixed in this rebel alliance to stick out.

What's in that pouch?

Anyway, these look good. Not only are the aliens cool, but the bodies look like a big step up in quality from the contractors'.

That first model looks really good. I'll obviously be buying these for the Edge, but I could get a good use for them as henchmen in other sci-fi skirmish games as well.

Very good models

It's a sporran, so, you know. Probably scotch.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Wow, I like those a lot. Keep putting out sculpts like these and I might have to get into this game. Very good work.

I'm a definite fan of these especially the boilersuit look. I don't know if it's been mentioned here but the hands will be 'open' ie no molded weapons so easy to swap in tools, or leave them unarmed.

Will certainly pick up a box or two.

Another Broken model revealed:

Featuring one of the standard broken weapons and yet another one of our alien heads (the concepts for which were designed by a biologist.)

The plastic kit which made this model, and every other one shown so far for this faction, will be available for purchase on Sep 29th.

That's probably the best one so far. Very nice model.

Great looking models, I dig the rugged spacer aesthetic a lot. I've been excited to see how this faction would look since it was first teased. Can't wait to get my hands on a kit.

I'm not sure either, but I'm leaning towards "sharpened tazer stick".

Is it weird that my favourite part of that paintjob is the hair?

The streaks of white in the grey really make it.

More broken models and sprue pics at last...

A common question we've had so far is just how many sprues are needed for each unit to be built? Additionally, how many sprues will be needed for a full force of Broken?

As you can see above, six models can be made with a huge array of options from each set of sprues. Units will be made up of 4-6 models each, with 1 Command model as well, so a single set of sprues can make up a full squad of 6, with most options. Three sets of sprues will be enough to make full squads of all three unit types. Going with two 6 man squads and one 5 man squad will also allow a Command model to be built, giving a full complement. The Broken are made up of inexperienced and easily available forces so have a very low points cost compared to some of our factions, so while 3 squads will cover all basic options, if you want to build a full force (100-150 points), you'll be doing some careful list building first!

More good pics. Looking good

I like Maelstrom's Edge, it's a good game, but I'm sorry to say that I will probably buy and build these for other systems, that's how universal these things are.

Still, as long as people are buying them, that's the main thing I suppose

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Bounty hunters, Star wars, alien scum, Rogue Stars, Necromunda, the possibilities are endless for this kit.
