I have a pool table in the basement where I live, and I was wondering if this would be a good place to use warhammer? I don't think it would tarnish the pool table itself at all, especially with how gingerly warhammer pieces are treated as is. Anyone have a different opinion, or am I correct on my assumption for this weekend with my playgroup?

Definitely not! Those bases will tear the material or snarl it a bit and you'll have a dead table. Don't do it if you want to use the table for pool ever again.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I've used a pool table before. It works fine. Just be aware that the felt is not a durable surface. I would have two rules;

1 clearly mark the space for the game so you know where the edges are. battle mat, yarn, etc.

2 no beverages on the table ever.

You could also just put some boards over the top of the table.

I'd cover the table first, pool tables can be pretty delicate.

Ive been on the look out for a good ping pong table myself. These catch my eye as an option, but I haven't been able to find them yet in a store so I can get a good look at them.

Standard ping pong tables are 5 x 9. Which provides a great space for a 6x4 play mat and a little extra room for books and dice and models in reserve/died.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

A new day, a new time zone.

If you're going to play on a poo; table, you want to put something over it. A;so, loosing dice down the pockets suck.

Put the cover over the table, and place a game board onto the cover. That's how I play 40k at home, and it works fine for me.

100% agree on getting a wooden cover for the table.

Get a FAT MAT or other detailed map mat.

Build a nice terrain/tabletop that is easy to break down and just put the pool table cover on and the tabletop on that! Sounds like it would be perfect and would even remotely risk ruining your felt.

My table is three 4' x 2' MDF boards, with hinges, that I put on our dining room table (wee bit smaller).

It's heavy and a bit of a pain to put up, and a bit of a squeeze to get round, but it works.

One 3/4" sheet of finish plywood will do you.
Easy. Heavy. Hard to move with extramspace at the end for books dice beverages and ashtrays.

For a game of 9 ball, yes

Seriously, some plywood over the top is where it's at.

4x8 sheet of 3/4" plywood cut into 4 sections (each 2' x 4'). Paint it all a drab green. If you want to flock it, that's pretty easy to do as well. Use thinned down glue, paint it on, sprinkle flock everywhere, tap off excess, re-sprinkle, repeat as necessary. Then let it all dry. I have boards I built with my dad like 20 years ago (2nd edition days!) that's still perfectly fine. Can easily make the table bigger or smaller to suit the size of game you're playing.

Nice and stable platform but defo put boards over the top.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

Get a mat, then plug the holes for the balls with cups or something to catch dice and figures.
