So I've started Khorne daemons from scratch recently as a different faction to playing elite imperial armies that I currently have. For painting motivation I have signed up for a one day tournament and will take the following list :

Supreme Command Detachment (+1CP) - 700pts
Daemon Prince of Khorne - Wings & Talons
Daemon Prince of Khorne - Wings & Talons
Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster

Vanguard Detachment (+1CP) - 793pts
Herald of Khorne - Bloodthrone
30x Bloodletters - Instrument & Icon
3x Bloodcrushers - Instrument
3x Bloodcrushers - Instrument
3x Bloodcrushers - Instrument

The tournament is 4 games and before each game they will roll to see if maelstrom or eternal war then roll mission .

So what I am asking is advise on:
- honest opinion of its strengths and weaknesses?
- which armies / lists should I fear?
- advise on tactics / approach?

I will get chance to play test this list 2 or 3 times and I have the following options:
10 more Bloodletters
10x Flesh hounds
Karanak
Skulltaker
Herald of Khorne
Skull cannon

Thanks in advance !!!

It seems to be very unpopular to play mono khorne Daemons. Unless you bring multiple bloodthirsters or bring them along with World Eaters. I never played my Khorne Daemon list and was just saying what people told me on here

Yield not to evils but, attack all the more boldly

Sadly in the new world of 8th edition, a mono khorne daemon army is one of the weakest. Lack of effective shooting, lack of survivability and lack of psychic shenanigans means you will likely be tabled in most games.

Khorne Dogs with Jugg Kherald and World Eaters DP support is really good. The Prince has 10 attacks on the charge or something crazy (with talons).
Bloodletter blob looks fun on paper, but it has no way to get to where it's going, and dies easily to basic shooting (even lasguns murder those guys).

I think you'd do much better with a core of pure Daemons, supported by World Eaters. Predators, Berserkers, Maulers, Heldrake.

Thanks for the comments ! I tried out a similar list to the above and it got tabled vs. an ultra shooty Ad-Mech tourney army. Bloodletters just die with ease so unless I am going to summon them, foot slogging is not viable unless I face an opponent who has to come forwards.

Bloodthirster died turn 2 - Lascannons just chew him up - however I think this was as much to do with my positioning and lack of 8th knowledge (apparantly now a wing is all you need to see). Daemon Princes made it into combat with vanguard line 1 dieing and line 2 falling back to leave them open to shooting. They are vicious on the charge.

However - mono Khorne is the way I will go for now, I will percivere!

I have a match up against Marines this Friday and my new tweaked list to trial will be:

Vanguard Detachment (+1CP) - 1049pts
Daemon Prince of Khorne - Wings & Talons
Daemon Prince of Khorne - Wings & Talons
3x Bloodcrushers - Instrument
3x Bloodcrushers - Instrument
3x Bloodcrushers - Instrument
Soul Grinder

Patrol Detachment (+0CP) - 445pts
Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster
15x Bloodletters

Soul Grinder adding some firepower but also another big scary(ish) model .

I am finding out that it will be tough going.

Flesh Hounds [5 PL, 100pts]: 5x Flesh Hound

++ Supreme Command Detachment +1CP (Chaos - Daemons) [53 PL, 1060pts] ++
+ HQ +

Skarbrand [19 PL, 380pts]
Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster [17 PL, 340pts]
Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster [17 PL, 340pts]

++ Battalion Detachment +3CP (Chaos - Daemons) [34 PL, 534pts] ++
+ HQ +

Herald of Khorne [3 PL, 56pts]

+ Troops +

Bloodletters [12 PL, 178pts]: 23x Bloodletter, Bloodreaper, Instrument of Chaos
Bloodletters [8 PL, 122pts]: 15x Bloodletter, Bloodreaper, Instrument of Chaos
Bloodletters [8 PL, 122pts]: 15x Bloodletter, Bloodreaper, Instrument of Chaos
++ Total: [107 PL, 1994pts] ++

Skarbrand helps alot with moral and buff/ debuff (no falling back)

He attracts alot of fire power and usually allows the bloodthirsters to make.

Flesh hounds are fast and help get the bloodletters to the target by pressure

I play daemons, and run a Thirster and 3 DPs ( i run nurgle DPs because they're just flat out better than Khorne DPs) a bunch of flesh hounds and some flamers.

All in all it probably plays a lot like your list - and I get tabled all the time. Daemons suck so far in 8th. No summoning, nothing to really protect us from shooting (like the old greater rewards, etc) and no shooting of our own.

I'm hoping when the Daemon book comes out (if GW even bothers any time soon) that they'll make some major changes, but I'm not counting on it.

Froth at the top, dregs at the bottom, but the middle - excellent

What they need to do is bring back Pink Horrors shooting. I had a blob two books ago that did SO MUCH damage, and was absurdly survivable thanks to invuln buffs.
Something like each model had an Assault 3 S5 gun that could boost to S6 with a locus? And they could reroll hits because Prescience. It was amazing.

If any faction of Demons was already in better shape than the rest, it would be Tzeench; it's the other gods that need help. Tzeench already has 3pt models with a 4+ invul, Exalted Flamers (and regular flamers).

IMHO Daemons aren't supposed to be shooty anyways. What they need to do is bring back deepstrike for Daemons. Every other faction can DS stuff left and right, but daemon for some reason can't...

I would support that. In fact, I've started a petition to the White House and Congress. You can see and sign here
