A while back I got the assault on black reach starter set. I'm only now starting to actually get into the game. I think the death guard are really cool. I was wondering if I could paint my space marines as death guard. I feel like it would make some sense, considering death guard is all about disease. In any case, thanks for reading and responses are much appreciated.

Of course you can. If you are alright with this, go for it. You won't earn much praise by others for your nice looking DG but as a fist step into the hobby only an [explicit]hole would hold this against you.

Happy painting!

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

No, all Imperial models repel any kind of attempt to give them a chaos paint job: once you've painted the model, it will alight in holy flame and burn your heretical paint job off.

In order to prevent this from happening, you must conduct heretical ceremonies that possess the body of the model with the soul of a daemon. This will alow you to apply a chaos coat of paint.

TL : DR - Of course you can, defile the loyalist models!

Go ahead. It's what I'm doing with Dark Vengeance. The stuff on them is Green Stuff (there is no elegant way to say that) and is a two part putty that dries to a slightly rubbery plastic. Very popular among Nurgle fans.

"Show me where it says that in the codex!" said Learchus.
"You know brother that I cannot." said Uriel.

Yep. Not all CSM wear spikes, horns, and skulls.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Just make sure you properly anoint the miniuatures with the pricking of your thumb by an Xacto knife.

I kid. This weekend I bought a 7E Dark Vengeance set and my son claimed all the loyalist marines (I've already got 3-4 companies o' marines) and "Chaosified" the minis for use as heretics.

If anyone asks, you can say they just turned renegade and haven't had a chance to visit the local Chaos-R-us for a change of uniform.

It never ends well

Somewhere.

Yeah, this was a pretty common thing in 7th, as it meant you doubled your chaos force. One easy option is to get some Chaos Marines and simply bit swap between the two. The Starter Set Marines don't have much you can swap out, but it's surprisingly easy to remove a shoulder pad and replace.

If you feel like it, also sculpt on some green stuff to give them some deformities, make them look fatter, etc.

I did it with the DV set - its a rewarding process, and you get more models for the cheap.

It doesn't matter if you're not dominating the game; if you have 3-4 x as many models and options than the rest of us and you're still getting new kits, we're still gonna rip on the faction. If I had 100 + Drukhari kits all in plastic to choose from, or 100 + Sisters kits, I think I'd be more likely to be receptive to Space Marine player's complaints about anything.

The game doesn't need super space marines, it needs more variety.
I don't want the best army, just one that isn't an exercise in picking up my models by turn 3.

your mind

Not all corruption shows on the outside. Who knows the rot within? That and not all decay proceeds at the same rate... Match schemes, add some nurhlings to some bases, paint appropriate colors, good to go and then some.

Sure you can. They could be a newly turned renegade chapter. Newly joined elements of the Red Corsairs may also still wear Imperial heraldry painted over, etc.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I'm pretty sure they officially approve of this if you look at the pictures for Betrayal at Calth and Burning of Prospero.
