Building a militarum tempestus army and want some primaris marine allies as I want them to look bigger than my scions as they should.

Which primaris units would you recommend and why?

Hellblasters. They're the best unit in the primaris book. Take 3 units of 5 hellblasters with a captain and an Ancient with standard of the emperor ascendent in a vanguard detachment and give them ravenguard CT. Now you have a solid firebase that clocks in at 630ish points that will belch out -4 2dmg plasma at 30 inches, doubling up at 15" and will kill more enemies while being killed than most other units can do in their turn.

^^^pretty much this

Also repulsor tanks are pretty good - and redemptor dread fills a nitche that gard kinda needs - close range CC denial.

What does a storm trooper army really need?

they have a ton of special weapons options already so i feel like hellblasters (while fantastic) are a little redundant.

It's going to be an inquisition army and the next thing I want after my tempestus scions is a deathwatch detachment, and since we have easy access to marines that can stand a head taller than my scions then why not?

Is there any love for intercessors?

Intercessors make good objective holders, able to deal damage at longer range than most basic infantry and with good durability.

They do have a vulnerability to multi-damage weapons, though.

on the other hand if your opponent is able to toss multi damage weapons with impunity at your basic troops chances are you've got other bigger problems

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Not necessarily. After all, if your intercessors are using their obsec to deny an objective, it could be a good tactical decision to hit them hard in order to take that objective away. Of course ,that still means the multi-damage attacks aren't going elsewhere, and the intercessors did their jobs.

I feel they're pretty space mariney. but I suppose it's a matter of what you think is space mariney.
