I'm fairly certain that us getting the Assault Gunboat is a sign of the end times.

So glad I just bought a Kimoglia from shapeways! Its going to be interesting to see whether ffgs forum is going to be readable now with out having hundreds of posts whining about a lack of gunboat (of course it wont, they will just whine about the gunboat instead)

Stole this info from ffgs forum;

Kimogila: 3 1 6 2, has PS 8 / 7 / 5 / 3,
focus, TL, barrel roll, RELOAD. EPT, torpedo, missile, salvaged astromech, illicit
Also "jam" tokens. A title, a new astro (R5TK), new EPT, new missile. Bullseye firing arc (can apparently hit several lined up ships)
??? (PS8), 27pt. EPT, torpedo, missile, salvaged astromech, illicit
DIAL: is that a 4 talon roll?! Or a 4 Kturn?

Phantom II: 2 2 4 1, PS 9 (fenn rau), 5 (Ezra), 3 (Zeb), 1 (?).
Focus, TL, coordinate (!). EPT, Crew, Astromech
2 new astromechs (one is chopper), 2 new titles (phantom and ghost), Auxiliary firing arc
Fenn Rau (PS9), 20pt, When an enemy ship inside your firing arc at Range 1-3 becomes the active ship during the Combat Phase, if you are not stressed you may receive 1 stress token. If you do, that ship cannot spend tokens to modify it’s dice when attacking this round.
DIAL: white 3 bank

Gunboat: 2 2 4 3, PS 7 / 5 / 4 / 2.
Focus, TL, SLAM, RELOAD. EPT, Missile, Torpedo
Cruismissile and two new cannons (one is jammer). Also new EPT, two titles (one allows to equip cannons), advanced slam
Major Vynder (PS7), 26pt: When defending, if you have a weapons disabled token roll 1 additional defense die
DIAL: white 3 bank

No unboxed expansion is big enough to fit a new movement template to allow a 4 Tallon Roll. Unless it is off a 4 straight.

Right on, new Ghost title without having to buy a new VCX-100!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
RELOAD: now even the cool Scyk isn't alone in what she does anymore!

Yeah I think it is a 4k (just lifted the info whole).

Thoughts; I am amazed that the Kimolgia is a small base. Dislike the idea of yet another firing arc thing and surprised they didn't make it a 4 dice primary. Think it should be 3 shields not 2 as you can see three shield tokens in the picture. Nice price point as the PS8 is 27, the three should be a bargain and the PS5 generic has EPT.

Phanton mkII, Coordinate! on a ship that small and cheap. Looks like all named pilots, with Ezra going upto PS5. Has an rear aux fire arc, a new generic astro with a hell of a lot of text on it and Maul crew? And no Sabine!

Gunboat, was surprised at the lack of ordinance slots until I saw the reload mechanic. Looks like the SLAM card is different to the K-Wing one, confirmation of the FAQ? Jammer beam cannon could be interesting if its handled well, guess its not going to be the same as in epic as there are the new tokens.

Looks like a pretty solid wave and with not a single blasted turret to be seen! Now we just need to know what the three ships from the new film are and then the SKUs gap is closed, guessing resistance A-Wing, TIE Silence(r?) and that horrible bomber thing.

Pretty much. I am so happy about this wave, FFG have redeemed themselves big time here. Not only do I get my beloved gunboat, I get to SLAM around at PS 9 and still shoot my cannons or just throw missile after missile at a target (exactly like in the PC games!).

All kidding aside, I do love this set too. Though without looking it up...which I'll do after I post this, I hadn't heard of a Kimogila before.

From an old video game series (Star Wars: X Wing) and was basically the most power ship in said game from what I understand.

Hasn't been seen outside that game series... until now.

If they are following the fluff, "that horrible bomber thing" is a capital ship, so it would make little sense to include it in X-Wing, much more Armada. Unless you mean that ship raising red dust while flying a few inches of the ground, then I retract my statement.

Not the most powerful (that would be the TIE defender), just the most powerful common ship. You're slaughtering hordes of TIEs that die in one hit, and suddenly in comes a ship that is equal to your own. It has shields, it has ion cannons to disable and capture the thing you're protecting, it has missiles that it's not afraid to use, and it has a hyperdrive so it can appear wherever and whenever it wants instead of in nice predictable waves from a capital ship. And remember, this is a game from the old days before you were allowed to quick save whenever you wanted. Few things in that game said "oh I'm about to lose the last 20 minutes of work" like that warning message about new gunboats entering the area.

Cheers for the info!! I reckon there must be a nostalgia thing, because I'm personally not convinced by the model; and I'm primarily an Imperial Player!

It's also fun in X-wing vs. Tie Fighter that you could actually fly them yourself.

It will be a refreshing visual departure indeed.

I hope they bring out a lot of the Imperial designs for Armada, like the Dreadnought, the Carrack and all those.

Post Wave-2, they have been releasing only "Cannon" stuff. So, barring Rebels bringing something out, or the New Trilogy being included, the Tector-class Star Destroyer is probably the only new ship that we will see.

I don't know how much this really means, Armada has had fewer releases total than X-Wing and obviously it's more likely that canon ships are going to be released before EU stuff as long as there are interesting canon ships left to make. And FFG have included EU fighters and characters even if they haven't done any capital ships. So I don't think there's any "canon only" policy that would get in the way if there's an EU ship that they want to do.

I hope not. Otherwise, they would have had to envision Armada as a closed arc of releases. Which I don,t think that any money-loving company would ever consider, not on this scale at least.

Rumours have been abound with armada that we'll see a mini dreadnought capital ship. Me personally I don't want to see the SSD series make it to the table as much as I love them. It just wouldn't suit the game.

Honestly, a SSD-sized ship will only unbalance things. The size would have to be immense, sliding scale or not.

It would have to be 2-3 feet long, and that's scaled down. Not super practical in Armada. Plus it would probably be the only ship in your fleet plus maybe a couple fighter stands.

My actual prediction of what they're going to announce is either
1) A Scum faction for armada
2) Clone wars spin off.

think that 1 is more likely.

Major Vynder: PS7, 26pt. While you have a "Weapons Disabled" token, roll an additional defense die.

50 Republic credits says that Jamming beam costs 2 points.

Enforcer (Title): 1pt. After defending, if attacker is in Bullseye Arc, they get stressed.

I think that they are trying to destroy token stacking this wave.

Meh.

Turani Kulda's ability, plus the title and the normal benefit of the bullseye firing arc make for a pretty potent combination, but with how narrow the arc is and the (supposed) limited mobility of the Kimogila, I question how often it'll really come into play. Could easily end up being just a gimmicky rookie trap (like chasing crits).

What I'm really hoping for is that Scrambler Missiles will dish out jam tokens to multiple ships. Would be able to turn off some missile alphas pretty quickly...

For sure.
Coordinate is useful though, especially on such a cheap shuttle. Certainly not worth docking it over double turret attacks though.

A Shealthipede by itself though... that might be a good investment.
