Had this come up at a game I was observing the other day. The Chaos player was using the Masque which he had summoned, and subsequently lost after a couple of turns. He stated that he was going to try to re-summon her, as his justification was "It says you can only have one of her in your army, but she's in my army list, if she's dead she's not actually in my army at this point" with emphasis on the difference between Army and Army List. We called him out on it, particularly as this was a more casual game and that kind of rules-lawyering I'd expect more from a tournament.

I'm asking partly out of sheer curiosity as I've never played Daemons before: Is this possible through a rather gamey loophole or was he just reading the rules wrong?

Were you playing with points? Cause if so, he'd have to have set aside enough reinforcement points to summon her twice. But if he did, it seems like it would be allowed just fine.

In non-points games (where you can summon whatever willy-nilly, then yeah, he can summon her back no problem. He just can't summon more than one of her at the same time.

Let's think this out. Summoned units are not like normal units, you don't put them in you army list if your summoning them into the field only if they start the battle in your deployment.

So if the masque dies it's no longer in your army, even if it's in the list of units you were bringing. As you can only ever have one in your army I would say yes, if it does die it can be resummoned. But you can only ever have one out at a time.

Sounds like me and my girlfriend.

*Girlfriend leaves room.*
"Wait I need this!"
*Girlfriend gets it for me and leaves room.*
"Ah crap I glued my fingers together come back!"
*Girlfriend saves my life and leaves room.*
"Honey I can't find this model piece I dropped..."

I dunno. I would say having summoned it once and it died still fits the description of having it in your army. It's a pretty vague requirement of course.

Does Epidemius reset if he dies and gets revived?
