Doing an inquisition army and want my inquisitor to have some kind of exterminatus as any good inquisitor should.

Was thinking of taking a deathstrike but they seem pretty unreliable and mathhammer puts them in a poor position. So other than a deathstrike what's the closest thing?

According to the forums, an army of Conscripts w/Commissars and Co. Commanders would be equivalent to an Exterminatus.

Otherwise... Super-heavy tank or Titan?

Space Marines get the Orbital Bombardment Stratagem too.

It's purely fluff. Exterminatus is world ending, and deploying it during a battle would be suicide. Also tends to require more planning than just "I have one in the trunk".

Best way to represent it would be to do a mission based on trying to stop it.

Only if said cat somehow manages to set the entire table on fire.

Embarking your Inquisitor on a Vendetta or other such transport, taking your models and going home. Torching the place you play at is a nice touch but I'd consider that optional. You think someone is going to hang out and watch the apocalypse from ground level? The game is over with the planet's destruction.

There were rules for massive chasms opening up in the ground though. In 4x8 and bigger tables, losing a 2x2 chunk represents the planet's instability and swallowing sections of opposing armies.

I like the idea of an inquisitor sitting by a massive battery of manticores and lighting up the entire horizon with explosions

Fully Painted Armies: 2200pts Orks 1000pts Space Marines 1200pts Tau 2500pts Blood Angels 3500pts Imperial Guard/Renegades and 1700pts Daemons 450pts Imperial Knights

I don't know about "exterminatus" as such, because like these guys (who are being very literal, and so they should!) say, that would mean everything on the table dying in one move. Which would be "OP as F---".

But I, too, have been looking for an Inquisitorial strike team/unit, that can turn up on the board and just be rather... nasty, to the opponent. However, I have no idea how, as the Inquisitorial henchmen index is now woefully, woefully nerfed. I mean... you literally have the option between acolytes (who are terrible), or a monkey. Or a demonhost... which I'm really not sure about one way or another at the moment.

Whoever mentioned embarking your inquisitor on a vendetta might be on to something. 6 lascannons, and space for a unit of 12, means an inquisitor could load up with ... well, acolytes.

I miss the old henchmen warband.

Play second edition, and use the Virus Stratagem ( I forget what's its called).

Literally the closest thing in all of 40k to an Exterminatus.
