Dark Age Crü:

My interest in DA has grown enough to consider choosing a faction for reals and making some lists purely based on cool models, however I'm not sure what the requirements for a warband are. I know where to find the availability on a card ([X] 500 type of thing), and I get the sub-faction limits on some factions (Skarrd and the cults, for example), but I'm wondering what I'm missing generically. Like, do I have to have a unit with Commander? Or is that just a good thing in terms of activations in game? Is there a minimum model count, like 3+ or so? I checked out the 'how to get started' section in the rules but not sure I saw much beyond playing to the same points level.

Thanks!

Welcome to Dark age!

As for required list building, no. Take whatever you want for the points limit you set. Usually 750.

The C for commanders just means they are unique, so only 1 per army. They also provide good bonuses/and get the commander keyword for linking your guys up. Ive made armies where I use all the arcangles and every other large character to swarmy armies. A good balanced is what your looking for, but there is no "min of X unit" requirements

Cool! That's good to know, I appreciate the freedom. Seems like the thing to do is mind your synergies and (ideally) shoot for some variety, and I don't totally understand the sideboard bit yet but guessing that's a lil' bit of extra on demand variety to counter various nasties.

Yea. The sideboard is for tourney play. Think it's 150 points worth of stuff you can sub in your army to help counter stuff that could mess you up. You can do it per model though from your side board, do t need to swap in the full 150.

Yea the game has alot of freedom on how you build. My rule of thumb is find a faction amd buy one of everything of it and see if it gives you 750 points. If not grab either duplicates of guys or other guys that work. For duplicates id make sure they are (4)500/750/1000
