Hey everyone! After a few years of hiatus I want to get back into the pilot's chair so to speak. I understand that X-wing is always getting new updates so my collection is a bit out of date and I'm wondering what I should do to keep up with the times. I have:

6x TIE/ln starfighters

2x TIE/in interceptors

1x TIE/sa Bomber

2x X-Wings

1x B-Wing

Slave 1

The Rebel Aces pack

E-Wing

Tie Defender

Tie Phantom

I stopped collecting around late 2014-early 2015. Any suggestions?

Depends upon what you like and the style of play you enjoy. The new core set is a worthwhile purchase as are both the Imp Aces and Imp Vets packs and the TIE/fo, TIE/sf and striker packs if your like Imps (which it seems you do).

Failing that buy Scum, lots of Scum...

I suppose the new core set would be a good way to get updated with the new rules and damage deck. The Vets and Aces pack look pretty cool. I do like Empire as a faction more but I kind of prefer rebel gamaeplay. So I guess I'll have to just collect both!

Mate, just accept it now that you will buy everything...

Are you looking at going competitive or casual or both?

Regardless I would definitely recommend the new core set (extra templates and dice are always useful as is the new damage deck), Imperial vets is great for another TIE/d as well as the titles for it and it contains stuff for bombers...
Imperial Aces is good for the extra interceptors and titles, they are fun to fly still but nowhere near competitive.
If going both factions I would also recommend getting both T-70 and TIE/fo separate blisters, some good stuff in them.
A mate of mine swears by the TFA rebel pack with the T-70 and Falcon in it (Heroes?) but its not my cup of tea...
The Ghost is pretty decent and comes with loads of great crew.
The new wookie ship is pretty good if you like playing synergising lists, the K-wing is useful for Miranda and various cards. Rebel TIE is also worth picking up.

Yep, get everything!

If you can get your hands on a K-Wing, it is a good ship. Not an obvious one, but good. But good luck, those are sold out a little bit everywhere.

The Ghost is great when paired with Biggs. It will allow you to field many, many lists thanks to the great crew that come in it. Just don't get too attached to it, it can fall to concentrated fire.

The Tie/fo expansion pack gives you a self contained pocket ace in the form of Omega Leader. That is a great purchase to up your Imperial game.

Don't forget to read the FAQ regarding the TIE Phantom, the decloak happens in a different phase now, so be aware.

Personally I want competitive lists but not cut throat ones. So, you can just mix Sequel and main trilogy ships in the same lists? Interesting. I guess it makes some kind of sense as I've read the First Order retained some of the old imperial ships.

Thanks for the advice! I think I'm going to run some upgunned TIE Defenders. I read up on the Imperial vet box upgrades and watched a bat-rep with them being used. They seem nasty. Plus... the TIE defender is my second favorite variant behind the TIE hunter!

Yeah mate as far as the game goes at the moment The Empire and the First Order are one and the same (equally both brand of traitorous scum are the same faction).

May I congratulate you upon your fine taste in ships? Sienar Fleet Systems Twin Ion Engine Defender will never let you down!

Just incase you haven't heard the x7 title for it has been FAQd, it is now a free evade action rater than just giving you a token (so if you land on a rock or are stressed you don't get the evade).

Along a similar vein to the TIE/D I would recommend having a look at the TIE/sf (First Order Special Forces) its a good, tanky ship, flys more like a brick but also hits like one. Its top pilot (Quickdraw at PS9) lets you attack after loosing a shield, which is pretty damn good.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also I agree with Mathieu about Omega Leader, one of the cheapest and best aces in the game and also works quite nicely with some of the TIE/d pilots.

I was trying to use Pure Sabacc (TIE Striker) last night and I realized that for the same number of points, I could just field Omega Leader, I just hot swapped the two and instantly felt better about my possibilities. He's also really good against Defenders, as they often rely on tokens to survive.

O-leader is great, even stock he's pretty decent . I think Pure Sabacc seems useful, but having omega leader to be a nuisance is fantastic

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

How are TIE interceptors doing in the meta? I have a couple squints and it'd be really cool to run them alongside some Defenders.

Pretty badly. There are just too many bombs and autoblaster turrets in the meta, things that annihilate low-HP targets that depend on green dice and maneuverability to survive.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Aww, that's a shame. I really like the look of them. Hopefully they'll get a bump in a future release soon.

If you're doing casual games, Soontir is still fun honestly, but you need the title from Imp Aces to make him great, he needs Push the Limit, Stealth Device and Autothrusters, and the Royal Guard title lets him take the two mods.

I'd suggest the Tie/Fo like everyone else and the Imperial Veterans. Or just jump in to Twin Laser Turret madness with X4 Tie aggressors

I don't play the rebels by my bane is always the Ghost.

I just ordered a copy of the new starter set and I'm very excited to start playing again! I appreciate all the help. X-wing is a very simple rules set but getting a proper list together can be a bit daunting if you're not up to speed on the most recent releases.
