Question about Word of the Phoenix and “as if phases”

So lets say Yvraine cast WoTP on Unit X.
Unit X shoots – Missed – Used a reroll stratagem
Does that reroll stratagem limit count in your psychic phase or shooting phase?
I mean, technically it is still your psychic phase since Yvraine can still cast a power after resolving WoTP.

The "as if" part just lets you use the relevant rules from that phase to make your out of sequence attack, it just actually change the phase.

Wait...do you mean it does or does not change the phase?

It does NOT change the phase.

If that is the case and it is still considered the psychic phase. There is something interesting that can (hope not) happen.

Characters needing to be the closest visible unit to be targeted in the shooting phase.
Since it is still the psychic phase.
You get to ignore that restriction for a Unit shooting via WoTP spell?

You're told to treat it as a shooting phase for the attack. How are you bypassing that?

Well you just said it was not changing your phase and it is still your psychic phase. Since it is not your "shooting phase" then there is no restriction. Unless you actually go to your shooting phase and just revert back to your psychic phase after the Soulburst action.

You do not 'go to' the phase, you simply treat the section in question as if it was that phase... doesn't actually solve the problem, it is just splitting hairs at this point, sorry... but the difference was rubbing me a little wrong.

So back on topic, a question I loved seeing flung around here in the past:
If the Rule tells you to treat Y as X, and you instead proceed as if it was still Y, have you treated Y as if it was X?

This roll was occurring as part of a Rule telling us to treat the situation as if it was the Shooting Phase, so logically a Rule modifying that roll would have to treat it as still being the Shooting Phase in order to meet the requirements of the original Rule.
If they are still taking FAQ suggestions, I would throw this one onto the list and see what the Authors say because it an interaction between two Rules that might not be intended.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

then you haven't complied with the wotp rule as you're not treating is as a shooting phase.

The reroll would be in the Psychic phase.

An action has happened in the Psychic phase that just happens to behave as if it were another Phase, but it's still in the Psychic phase.

Yeah got sidetracked a little...I was treating the roll to count for during the shooting phase in my games. Would just be nice to get a clarification
