As I said in a previous post, I am coming back after a small break due to life circumstances. I found out we have a new edition. I was about to get this https://www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/The-Generals-Handbook-2017-warlord-Edition-2017 the General's Handbook Warlord Edition until I saw this https://www.games-workshop.com/en-CA/Age-Of-Sigmar-Blight-War-2017-eng Blight War box set.

Sadly I don't have the funds for both, so I am leaning on the Blight War box set. Thing is, will I miss out on the Warlords Edition? I know I can get the General's Handbook later but would I be able to get all the other "goodies" later or they are "once they are gone they are gone"? What are the "must haves" in the Warlord Edition and what can I buy at a later time?

I am just wondering if I should be getting the Warlord Edition before I get the Blight War box set or should I get the Blight War box set because it might not be available later? Want to make sure what to get first and hoping to get both by the end of September. Just making sure what I need to buy first.

I doubt the extras for the Warlord Edition will ever be available again once it's sold out, while the Blightwars set will be around for a while. If it's between those two, I'd definitely recommend the Warlord Edition.

Warlord edition is fine and all, it has some useful stuff, but for £25 extra than the normal edition I personally don't feel like it is worth it. Like, how often are you going to play Triumph and Trechery or Coalition? I would rather get the standalone book and the Open War cards, they will get much more use and not cost as much. Also, all the extras you get with the special edition are found in the book anyway, which you would bring to games regardless.

On the flipside, do you really want all the stuff in Blightwar? If you're working on a budget, you need to think critically about it. Do you have another person who you would split the box with? I would love to have the Stormcast side, but sadly no one locally wants all the Nurgle, so I'll just get the Hero on eBay or something.

Basically, I would get the GHB standalone, and Blightwar only is you have a use for both sides,

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Why would you drop extra coin on some cheap turn counters and paper? 90$ US seems rather absurd for that.

Spend 20$ on the digital copy of the book. If you're feeling froggy, buy the card deck later.

Go buy some models, your choice if it's blightwar (only if you actually like those two armies).

The "collector edition" GHB has essentially no resell value. The box set will always have intrinsic value since people need models. That is the better use of coin (again, if you actually want those armies)

Just want to make sure, what is in the Warlord Edition that you really like?

I like the minis, so while in most cases I wouldn't play them, I do like them for my collection. I am not sure, can we buy them separately? I thought going from previous box sets from GW, it's cheaper getting the boxset.

While I don't play the armies, I do like the minis. So for modelling and collecting I would like to get them. Counters are made out of paper? I thought for the cost it would be better than that. Maybe I was thinking something like Privateer Press counters, or GW 4th edition (or was it 5th edition?) counters made out of plastic. Thanks for letting me know, I am sure the paper counters will not last long.

Looks like the iPad version is getting better now after reading this. Just need to wait for wife to get home with iPad so I can see how much it costs in Canadian funds.

Again, thank you everyone for your comments.

Yeah, if budget is a concern, consider the digital version of the handbook and checking online for discounted Blightwar sets. Like this:

I'm a sucker for counters. Not sure why, I just like using them. I also like the idea of the battleplan cards.

Thanks for the link. I don't like buying online but you have reminded me where I can go to get a good discount. I will call them up and see how much they are charging and see if it is worth the trip up their. It might be worth enough for the trip. It will be like paying full price but having the book for free.

So am I. Thing is, I don't like paper counters. It's like I could have made them myself. If they were made out of plastic, I would have bought them for sure.

If they're like the counters that came with the Blades of Khorne preorders (which is what they look like), they will be cardboard, not paper. They're very similar to the counters you find in most FFG cames.
