Resentful Grot With a Plan

Right now I'm just picking up some tanks that have appealed to me but I might get the starter box at some point and then maybe play a little, so if anyone has some advice for what sort of numbers of things you need to play a game and what could be added along the way it would be appreciated.

Right now all I have is a box of 3 Light Mk VI B/C, 2 TOGs and a Cruiser IV. I really like the TOG and would like to get some of those and more Cruisers, I appreciate that right now I've got a mix of mid and early war and that it's all British but it's as likely as not going to get even more diverse before I get around to playing a game. I'd also like to have two forces to play against each other if I end up playing someone who is interested in playing but not collecting.

For tanks and maybe vehicles I'd rather buy and paint the things I think are most interesting, but for infantry and guns I'm not too worried so table top performance would be more important.

Biggest questions are: How many tanks, and other things do you need for a fun game?

This Is Where the Fish Lives

It depends.

My usual mid-war British list has 18 tanks, sometimes less if I bring some heavier tanks, plus an extra one for an OP. It also has a full infantry formation with 14 infantry stands, a handful of Universal Carriers, and some small antitank guns. It also has some artillery in support.

And some, I assume, are good people."
