I am captain casual as far as xwing goes and usually just lurk here. Having said that I was wondering about the utility of unguided rockets for TIE bombers. I'm guessing the upgrade exists almost entirely for them to buff their firepower. With the new Starwing on its way I'm mucking about with Jonuus again to help bump up the damage potential and wavering between TIE shuttling him to maximise support capability or giving him rockets to bump up the damage output a bit.

Anyway, any thoughts welcome.

Outflanking

They are Okay, but not enough to really justify a bomber by themselves. I like them on Tomax Bren as a backup to Plasma Torps, and I suppose that they could work on Captain Jonus to add some kick.

I'm thinking Jonus in with a cruise missile Inquisitor and a Cluster Missile Starwing would bring a pretty brutal alphastrike and just wavering between some crew in a shuttle or letting Jonus play with the big boys

If you're taking a bomber already they're probably the best option. For 2 points you give your support ship a decent attack instead of having dead weight in your list. But they don't make the bomber anywhere near good enough to be viable in general.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I largely concur with Peregine, although I rather stick real ordinance plus G-chip on a bomber hoping that the one good shot I get would outshine the 'repeatable' nature on Unguided, although unguided on the bomb punisher could be fun

Jones doesn't buff himself though so I was trying to minimise cost and a decent proper missile load out is another 4 or 5 points. Similarly the punisher doesn't synergies the rest of the list.

The Punisher comment was an observation (plus I have one I've never flown and Unguided might be the nudge it needs)

Sorry, I see that now. Got fixated on the aspects of the post rather than the original thread title!

The punisher is an odd fish and I've never done that much with bombs so tend just to.fly Redline.
