I have a question I wish the masses to answer.

How likely would it be for a small group of Justaerin Terminators to stay loyal to the Emperor if they were part of some far flung Fleet when the Heresy broke out?

I run my Luna Wolves as loyalists and I love the miniatures and the rules for these guys and have been considering picking some of them up to run with my almost a company of marines.

Thoughts? I could also do them up in White and black armor and just run them as "Counts as" much like how I run my Reavers as "Cthonian Vengeance Squads" since they are loyalists.

Recasts are like Fight Cub. No one talks about it, but more people do it then you realize.

No problem at all, in my opinion, as long as you ask your opponent before the game.

As long as the rules don't require them to be ran as traitors, then go for it.

They in fact do not!

Do they have anything specifically stating they can only be used in Traitor Forces? If not then you can take them. Like Reavers, you dont need to call them anything fancy. Reavers were spread through out the Legion and not all of them have to be Traitors.

Just as likely as two members of the Mournival staying loyal.

Some people do confuse fluff with rules, which is wrong. If rules permit, you are fine. You don't need to invent names or hypotheticals on how it might have come about to justify your choices.

The big black books do talk a bit about "Loyalist" vs. "Traitor" armies, and that you can make a Loyalist army from a traditionally Traitor army, but you will be restricted to only certain units/special characters. This is even extended into the Red Books, but in a more round about way. For example: Red Book, Legions, Pg. 86, Maloghurst the Twisted, he has a call out box that says "This unit may only be taken as part of a Traitor faction army." And again pg. 68 Roboute Guilliman, "Thisunit may only be taken as part of a Loyalist faction army."

Under pg. 9 from the Red Book, Army List, "Composition" it says the entire Primary Detachment and Lords of War choices must come from the same faction (Loyalist or Traitor) and for the Space Marine Legions, from the same Legion.

During army creation, you declare what faction your army belongs to: Loyalist or Traitor, and then follow all the restrictions for that army faction. It is entirely possible/reasonable to have a Loyalist Sons of Horus army. You just won't have access to certain special characters, wargear, or Rites of War.

Another possibility: Make them Black Shields.
