My primary army is tyranids, but I do have a good share of marines (mostly tactical, assault, devastater and terminator). For simplicity in painting, I'd like to go with Marines Exemplar as my chapter. Doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there, though. What I've seen indicates their founding chapter is unknown. Would that mean I could just pick one that has stratagems I feel would fit the army style? And does anyone know what they tend to favor? Any accounts of their battles or mention of them in more detail?

To my knowledge, they deployed under Space Wolf orders in the 13th Black Crusade, where their Chapter Master's aircraft was shot down. They remain hopeful that their Chapter Master is alive, but at the moment a Captain is leading the Chapter.

They're part of the Astartes Praeses, guarding the Eye of Terror - how they're faring now with the whole split in the galaxy is unknown.

I would pick and choose your Chapter Trait for each game if you do not have a pre-defined one.

Echoing Karhedron, I'd say pick whatever you feel suits the army. At the end of the day it's pretty awesome that you're choosing a lesser known chapter, so be creative with it and find what you like best!
