I've ordered online and been to the shop.
As with any seller, stock can be patchy. But I find that's more because they sell through, rather than don't carry enough.
I'd say you can buy with confidence from Darksphere

I did a 'click and collect' type order a few months back for some X-Wing ships. Good price and friendly staff in there when i went to pick up.

Happy repeat customer here - they're quick and cheap. Though, if you go over £80, Element Games is cheaper as they give free postage whereas Dark Sphere charge an increased price for postage.

They're a good shop and even though I'm local I've ordered stuff to the house when it's too much to pick up. Can't fault them.

Only downside is their postage costs.
It's not that they're unreasonable themselves, just others offer free postage.

Have bought online from them several times, no complaints - orders arrived quickly each time.
Have visited their shop a few times, it's a real Alladins cave - although it's about as tidy as my bedroom was when I was 11 years old. I probably preferred their previous location in London (which was just opposite and over the river from the London eye) - although I guess the rent was probably about a million pounds a month, so can understand why they might have moved.
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff also, which is always a bonus.

Dark Sphere is my go-to online source of all things wargaming.
Have had 19 very successful purchases from them already this year, and another two pending (one for Saturday's Ad Mech releases, the other paints which I don't want to wait for).
Only ever had one hiccup in the years I've been ordering from them - and that was because an expected delivery to them from GW never came through despite GW promises. In that case they swiftly contacted me as to what I wanted to do next with the order (I bought an alternative model that was in stock). Very satisfied with their service.
Postage is good - tracked so I know when it's going to arrive (and yes, properly tracked and not the usual un-tracked signed for!). Some items come with reduced shipping, but the standard £3.80 for a reasonable sized order is fine with me.

I buy online from them a lot, though I always use store pickup as I live nearby. I've never had any problems at all.

I'm not sure - they did used to be one of the best stockists in the UK.
I think they were recently running down their PP stock. The decision not to stock PP anymore might be due to a combination of the poor $/£ exchange and potentially a drop in demand due to the success of 8th edition.
Certainly, I think PP has done poorly of late, particularly the incredibly slow speed of its transition over to hard plastic.

I think also their new 3.0 rules set and a shift toward tablet and away from cards has lost them some of their momentum - though honestly I'd be really sad to see them do so badly as to lose stockists. The market needs a serious competitor to GW.
If I recall right I think PP also did away with their Press Ganger system and also stripped out their own forums (that was a real gut-hit considering how they basically stripped their forums of everything). It is almost like old GW management jumped ship from GW to PP
