Unhealthy Competition With Other Legions

Toronto, Ontario

I read the stickiess and edited the post to be more in line with the proper forum. I've sent the background question to the background section and focused in my question here.

So, I'm planning on usually running The Crimson Path RoW.

Here's the core of my 3000 pt army.

HQ:
Endryd Haar
Legion Praetor w/Jump pack.
Legion Chaplain

Elites:
Apothecarion detachement (3)
Mortis Contemptor w/dual Kheres
Morts Contemptor w/dual lascannons

Troops:
2x 20 Legion Tactical Marines
1x 20 Legion Assault Marines

Heavy Support:
1x 10 Legion Heavy Support w/ lascannons
1x Predator squadron (3 w/ autocannon and las)

As a pool to draw on to fill out the army to 3000 points or more and be able to mx it up, I have 20 more marines w/bolters (they're in mk 4 armour instead of mk 3 so they can be addition tacticals or visually different veterans), and I'm building a full squad of heavy supports w/ML, 20 Terminators and 2 tactical support squads. I'm planning on picking up 3 rhinos, a whirlwind scorpius and 2 land raiders.

So, my question is how to build the support squads. Do I make them both volkite chargers or both plasma, or do one of each? Also, I'd like to buy them a land raider squadron as a transport, but I much prefer the look of the Landraider Proteus. But with no assault ramp it's pointless for my terminators. I suppose I could get one of each and make one support squad volkite chargers and one plasma guns, but then we're back to the question of with so manu bolter shots and chain-axe attacks, is a volkite charger squad pointless?

Does mixing landraiders in a squadron create any issues with performance?

Also, between the people I'm now playing with, there's always the potential for 1-3 flyers during the game. The lascannon mortis is to fire at fire raptors, fighters and mechanicum things. I'm considering swapping him out for a Deredeo. Without a CC weapon on the contemptor. Is there a reason to take it over the Deredeo?

Thanks

Prepare yourselves for the onslaught men. The enemy is waiting, but your Officers are courageous and your bayonettes sharp! I have at my disposal an entire army of Muskokans, tens of thousands of armour and artillery supporting millions upon tens of millions of the Imperium's finest fighting men with courage in their bellies, fire in their hearts and lasguns in their hands. Emperor show mercy to mine enemies, for as sure as the Imperium is vast, I will not!

Are you playing loyalists? Because WE loyalists are... not in a great place. I really wanted to play loyalists but gradually fell to the dark side - Surlak and Inductii are really good. Running Crimson Path is also tough to pull off - any opponent who knows what it is can basically negate it with very little effort. Without being able to take any of the best WE units - Angron, Surlak, Inductii and/or Red Butchers, you aren't left with a whole lot to actually make the World Eaters punchy in CC. You can't even take Berserker Assault.

Also, pretty sure skull face chaplains are cool to use. It might not have been standardized early in the crusade, but that doesn't mean your guy doesn't have a skull helmet.

With that many terminators you might want to bite the bullet and get a couple of Spartans instead of Land Raiders. Most armies out there are going to be ready to take on a single Spartan, so unfortunately you will probably have to take two to really hammer home an assault.

I also think no World Eater force is complete without a ten man flamer support squad with additional hand weapon - I like to put it in an anvillus for clearing units off objectives; but I also run Berserker Assault, so it's a pretty potent melee unit against non melee specialists.

I love Angron's story and the World Eaters especially as War Hounds, so I'm planning on rolling them as loyalists more often than not. Actually, I find that in my few games, Endryd Haar handing 3 units 'scout' gets guys up the board so fast that it's really hamstrung the othe legion's ability to move at all, plus, them moving up to keep me out of their zone is fine by me.

My issue has been I thought that volkite charger support squads would be cheap and usefull, but have been the opposite. I hadn't considered a flamer squad, but the thought of throwing that many dice makes me happy.

I was hoping that rampagers would fill in nicely, but they seem way too expensive.

Yeah, Rampagers are quite possibly the worst legion specific unit; it's better to just take veterans like you said. Cadere weapons in general are pretty garbage, they really show that WEs were a first-book legion. The only possible build I've thought of is a forge lord with rad grenades or whatever and a meteor hammer, it has a small potential to be useful against t4 characters without init. boosts.
