Culexus for the story, the concept, and the power to deny the witches.

Death cultists. Because of those two big impressively shaped swords.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

Culexus, especially before the necron ret-con. GW even put out an article where a Culexus Assassin was in transition to becoming a Necron Pariah.

I think I have always loved the Vindicare and Eversor in previous editions. The Vindicare has always been the easiest to play.

Now I am stuck between how cool the Eversor looks versus the Culexus' abilities and look/background.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I will say that the Callidus is pretty awesome when she pops up right behind 3 characters and completely preoccupies them for at least one turn.

vindicare. It has been amazing in every game i have played with it

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Do Solitaires count as assassins?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Fluff-wise, the Eversor is my favourite. An already hyper-violent madman injected with so many stimulants that their blood becomes acidic volatile goop, then drop podded into the midst of the enemy as an 'assassin'. That's just a hilariously over the top 40k idea.

In the game, the Culexus is probably the most powerful right now. A character that can only ever be hit on a 6, for that price. They're a bit OP.

Eversor - drugging up a guy and dropping him into the midst of the enemy formation to be an "assassin" smacks of delicious fluffy grimdark.

Callidus would be my fave. Love the whole polymorphine shape shifty angle to get close to the target and slipping a phase sword through their back and blasting the confused bodyguards away with the neural shredder before slipping away and blending into the confused throng. Always felt more assassin-y to me. Subtle.

Culexus and Eversor lack any subtlety. You could just as easily give a suitably amgry marine the same task.

Vindicare would be my second favourite due to classic sniper.

Eversor for me. A ticking time bomb of gory death that takes its foes down with it, it jives with my Orky sensibilities of what an assassin is like. Also, WRRRRY.

I am partial to the Culexus and Eversor. The Eversor is such a hilarious concept. His 8e rules are great as well. Dude just appears and starts ripping stuff apart. Increased Charge range plus additional Attacks is just awesome. The Culexus is awesome. I love the idea of a walking psychic deadspot. I wish his Animus Speculum didn't have random shots, though. It is cool that he basically tears stuff apart with his bare hands.

Eversor.

Annhilating an entire bloodline use improvised implements - including a spoon - is just ridiculous.

Old fluff btw.

Nemesis is actually a decent read too if you want assassin inspiration.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Every time someone types Vindicator instead of Vindicare I picture one perched on the top of a building sniping stuff with his Demolisher Cannon.

Yes. I love it.

Intermittently kicking on the engines with a sputter, the Vindicator slowly crept forward, being careful to keep the RPMs of the engine down to avoid blowing too much smoke out of it's vents. It had been tracking it's quarry across the continent for the last month, and finally, after spending two days silently smashing it's way up eight flights of stairs to keep hidden, a clean shot on the target has finally presented itself.

"Prepare to fire!" The tank commander screamed to the crew to be heard over the beep-boop of electronics, and the deep rumble of the engines.

"Preparations complete sir!" The gunner screamed back, after loading a shell into the main cannon with a load clank.

The target, the commander of the heretic forces that had been ravaging this agri-world, and his officers were gathered in a meeting, unaware of the short ranged explosive death trained on them. Selected from hundreds of other Vindicator crews, the Officio Assassinorum spent years training the crew, and whispering sweet nothings to machine spirit to keep it's tendencies of rushing forwards into battle at a minimum.

"This scum will never know what hit them" the tank commander said to himself before screaming;

"FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" into the vox-system, broadcasting it through the external speakers and throwing the heretics into a state of confusion as he pulled the lanyard cable to fire the main gun, causing the vehicle to shake with the explosive force of firing a shell.

The massive Demolisher Cannon shell slowly arced through the air on it's flight path to the intended target. The heretic commander and his officers, now aware of the impending death traveling towards them, only managed to get a few steps in before the shell hit the ground in between them and detonated, shredding their bodies and the buildings next to them.

Examining the 50 foot crater that used to be their target, the commander of the Vindicator nodded to himself as a sign of a job well done. Their target was destroyed, but there was always more work to do assassinating the enemies of mankind.

"Autobo... Uhhh, crew, roll out!" And thus, the vehicle trundled off to begin stalking it's next target.
