Hi all. I don't know if this was taled about elsewhere, but has there been any word on the timeline for Forgeworld's release of the updated Horus Heresy only rules?

Prepare yourselves for the onslaught men. The enemy is waiting, but your Officers are courageous and your bayonettes sharp! I have at my disposal an entire army of Muskokans, tens of thousands of armour and artillery supporting millions upon tens of millions of the Imperium's finest fighting men with courage in their bellies, fire in their hearts and lasguns in their hands. Emperor show mercy to mine enemies, for as sure as the Imperium is vast, I will not!

Nope, the guy (can't remember his name) that was the King of HH fluff and rules died in June of this year. As far I as I know, HH is a drift in a FW ocean of uncertainty.

It is hardly adrift, production has just slowed down.
Originally the goal had been to have the new rule book out by the end of summer. I'd expect end of year now. It doesn't help that GW has been pushing FW to get more of the specialist games out, but their staff hasn't exactly grown much to support the increased production schedule.

Which pretty much means 'uncertainty'.

We'll be lucky to see it by springtime of 2018, and the next HH Book around summer 2019 if past performance is used to judge future releases.

It's possible that it may take some time to find the right spot on the release schedule. It represents a relaunch of sorts for HH, which is something they'd want to hype. but GW will be going full-tilt on 40K for a while, and even FW has other projects that are likely of greater importance and profitability.

It's in a thread in News and Rumors, or General Discussion, don't remember which. Pretty big discussion though.
Here.

HH has been derailed a bit by Bligh's death and producing a new rulebook. Now that's in the printers they're getting back on with it, there are plenty of models in the pipeline
there are no more HH plastics planned at the moment. Never say never, but production time is at least a year, so don't expect anything anytime soon

Not sure I believe some random poster on Reddit who talked to a guy that knew a guy that attended the Games Workshop Annual General Meeting. What company holds such a thing in September? December/January or June/July I can see. But September? That's the start of the third quarter of the year, corporate taxes haven't been done yet, it's 3/4 of the marketing year. It just makes no sense.
It reads like a wish list and some kind of weird justification/apology. My favorite line: "they want to bring more women into the hobby, but don't want to alienate the existing playerbase while doing so, it is something they're aware of (but no details as yet) " That's complete and total misogyny at it's worst, and something I'd expect from a 20-something living in his parent's basement to say. They want to get more women into the hobby? Then they need to hire more women into the company and listen to what they have to say. It's an obvious fix.
The whole marketing strategy thing- Hah! Web traffic is up because they now offer free rules at the website, and a good chunk of the model range is only available through the online store. It's a self fulfilling prophesy. And they measure click throughs of web blogs and hobby web sites? Someone call the NSA because they would love to know how they are doing that.
It's just a non-nonsensical blog post. Maybe someone attended a meeting, and maybe something was discussed along these lines, but this whole thing seems unreal. But ya know what? If it's true, then GW is taking stumbling steps in the right direction. A Specialist Game every month with ongoing support? I'll believe it when it happens. 30K rule book at the printers? Awesome. I'd expect an announcement about it's forthcoming release in the next week or two.
