A Brief Overview of the Campaign Rules
Spoiler:

With the coming of 8th edition I would dare say things look brighter than ever if you're into narrative play as it has really reinvigorated the game and the ability to field a variety of units in a fun way. I also think the competitive scene is looking better than it has in a while also, so generally speaking good news all around Since our last campaign kind of petered out due to a combination of disinterest in 7th edition and conflicting schedules we opted to keep this campaign very short and sweet. There will be minor rewards to each side for each victory;

Round 1
If Imperium wins they will get free 5 man squad of Battle Sisters in next mission

If Chaos wins they get 2 free 10 man units of Cultists in next mission

Round 2
If Imperium wins they get first turn in Mission 3 as the Imperial Guard is alerted.

If Chaos wins they get first turn as they successfully ambush the Guard.

Round 3
If Imperials win they get some sort of deep strike bonus for the final game – e.g. they’re allowed to DS in a single unit that normally cannot DS.

If Chaos wins they maybe use the spaceport transponders to control the warp and become immune to Perils wounds in the final game, or maybe get a bonus unit of daemons or something?

Round 4
The winner gets to look way cooler in the fluff

The Fluff
Spoiler:

Thysilla, the Martyred Planet, the Field of Fallen Heroes, the Blood of Sanctity. A former rich agri world that fell prey to becoming vast swathes of scrub and desert after its nearby star transformed to a red giant, the planet retained its importance due to it being a staging ground for departing Exertus Imperialis from the Terran system during the Great Crusade. Many are the sprawling monument cities and cathedral spires that dot the landscape, and many more are the holy relics and remembrances etched in the stone of the very land. Countless are the martyrs who set foot upon this land before going forth to die in the glorious name of The God-Emperor.

Under the watchful administration of Cardinal-Astral Heath Goradon Thysilla has maintained its place as a beacon of hope in the sector, and one of the watchways into Holy Terra itself, with a near countless stream of pilgrims kneeling down upon its vast prayer piazzas as they listen to the Cardinal's roaring rhetoric, prayer coffers overflowing with offerings, and protected under the steady eye of the famed Red Sisterhood of Thysilla, a cadre of warriors with no equal in immediate range,a nd all sworn with undying loyalty to protect Thysilla, Cardinal Goradon, and the pious populace.

Yet it is because of these unimaginable benefits that a growing concern has been raised within the Inquisition. If one were to look carefully at the raw amount of resources on Thysilla it might become a worthy thing to question. Why is it so difficult to find clear accounting for the money collected? Why is so much military grade hardware annually requisitioned for the Red Sisters despite enjoying The Emperor's peace for the last five hundred years? Why wonder about the questionable security protocols for so many people passing into the system so close to Holy Terra itself? Why, it is almost as if one could listen to The Cardinal's speeches and begin to almost wonder if his powerful voice doesn't ring perhaps a bit too much about himself, almost as if he is conflating loyalty to The God-Emperor to the same as being loyal to The Cardinal himself.

If such a matter were to be proven true, it could be a great shame to the Ministorium, but even more horrible is if it is true and it is discovered that they did nothing. Thus it has been decided that a small delegation by Inquisitor Luthor Dominatus is the solution. The wily old Witchhunter's loyalty and fervor are unquestioned, and if anyone could suss out hidden deceptions it would be him.

And if heresy is discovered?
The Inquisitor's record of combat honors is also unquestionable.

Thysilla will be found pure.
Or it will be purged in fire and fury.

Very much looking forward to reading these! Nice to see the return of the good inquisitor (and his retinue from the look of it) from the Pyres of Petod campaign.

Awesome, hope you'll enjoy the first battle (now up - cheap plug )

It is indeed the same batch from Pyres, they're just too fun not to stick into the fire again.

How is the next part coming along? Curious to see the modifications made to the ambush mission, as it currently is the least favorite mission at our group (people think it is too easy for the attacker to shut down the defender).

The next mission will probably be played sometime this month. I'm mildly hopeful for next Sunday, but it will depend on everyone's schedules.
