I think it's time to finish some Projects and otherwise actually make some toy-manz from all the stuff i've accumulated.

My tactic is to production line small groups rather than languish trying to painstakingly convert/paint individual models, i had got too caught up trying to scratchbuild too much of each model and then getting discouraged when it doesn't look quite right. Part of the discipline is to only post when i've made painting progress, or only when i've finished and primed a group of conversions, got too caught up posting early WIP's like this.

Ironically enough this one is alot further on and i may finish it in this blog. Although i stopped because i'm not that happy with it, but that is the point of this blog. Git' er done!

Also i got a touch of the 'Dragon Sickness' (the only cool invention of those hobbit movies) when it came to alot of my stuff, worrying about resale value. Meaning i never went for some of the kitbashes i really wanted, instead trying to scratch build too many elements.

Project 1: Tregorrin of the Lake Bed (+Retinue)

Tregorrin

Retinue Members

The Gorgoness sisters (Osruga and Bokka)

The Enforcers (Eadig and Xho'agger)

Tregorrin and his Enforcers, 'Still your blade Eadig, it's not our moment'.

I initially worried that the henchmen might outshine him but putting them together, Tregorrin still has a nice 'mastermind' quality to him. Also as it's told in Arthurian legend it is the fate of every King to be surpassed by his greatest warrior.

I am also working on some guardsmen(need to work my way up to five), finally finishing a dreadnought (You can find pics of it from 2013 haha) and i've got some ideas for a Talos (partially built it (just the core assembly) but gave up while it was still worth reselling).

Nice looking group of models. I like the last shot. Nice little narrative. I think Eadig is my favorite so far.

Are the sisters part wraith? The conversions look great. I'm trying to figure out all the bling bits so I can..borrow. Fist shaker is my favorite, although Eadig's helmet is truly inspirational.

it's just some Dryad legs, will have a better shot of them when they're done/(Near done), unfortunately at the moment they are at a particularly unattractive stage of painting.

Here's Tregorrin, showcasing what i am going for with the paint, the green-gold will be a bit less pronounced on the finished article and the red may be more orange, may be more pink haven't decided.

EDIT : I forgot that my camera is far better than the dolt brandishing it, Click on it to open the gallery page and zoom in!

Was attempting a 'Bonemold' look to his armour, the pic doesn't show the 'Striations' i've tried to add but on the fli-side it does blend it nicely. May do some more modelling tomoz, have a talos i've got some evil plans for and some scourges i've got something that could look very cool in mind for.

Question i need answered, as there is nothing stopping me making the scourges and Talos 'Legal' units are scourges still 2 special weapons per 5? Or can you jam even more in now, also are Haywire blasters still pretty good? I am dimly aware that tanks now have health points or something.

Hell yeah! Shouldn't come as a surprise if you look through my plog that I'm a massive fan of red and bone colour schemes

Now that you mention it, I suppose bonemold is a massive influence for me as well, and the whole ash-waste bone and cloth rags thing is again very influential proud Redoran btw

I have found as well that it's quite difficult to get striations in bone colours that the camera actually picks up. While they can look really cool in real life, the camera tends to wash them out. You can go two ways with that, either ramp up the striation effect until it's obvious on camera, or go for what looks subtle in real life and accept that it's not really going to come across in pictures. Either way's good

Looking forward to the Scourges gorgeous models, and ripe for modification I think they're 4/5 heavy weapons with a free sergeant now, and I think HWB have been knocked off the top by darklight stuff (HWB are over/fairly costed now? I don't know really, not my sphere of knowledge really).

Thanks, more and more pleased with the model as i look at it.

Was kicked out of Redoran, stole too much stuff from them and some botched robberies (and accidental forbidden bed-sleeping!) ended in mucho murderings. Had been replaying Morrowind recently (with a handful of small mods), controversial opinion but i actually think the combat/difficulty is really good, crude but effective, the core gameplay holds up FAAAAAARRRR better than Oblivion imo (which is almost unplayable), joined Hlaalu as although they're basically the Mafia they're not so much into the slavery.

The talos is more or less finished, needs some hip armour and gap filling/general transition sculpting. The scourge is more of a proof of concept, super happy with the concept less so with this specific implementation, will need to bite the bullet and file done the gun and wing 'breasts' (shoulder blades) to get more flexibility in the gun's positioning. The dryad upper jaw is just one of a couple ideas i have for anthropomorphizing the gun, they are all going to have one arm with the other socket being taken up by a darklight battery thing. I am using the converted Disintegrators instead of actual dark lances for visual consistency and because the vehicle ones are more versatile than hacked up infantry ones. It is also worth pointing out that because within the DE range all weaponry is pretty consistent in size, unlike the Imperium that can have Lascannons varying by at least 100-150%.

Without extra leg details, also no hip armour.

With extra leg/foot details, looks better from some angles, worse than others.

Did a little more painting, finished Tregorrin, the retinue aren't far behind, i am very much looking forward to the group shot, all the Gold heads are going to look great. I also have a Raider i started long ago that would serve as a fine transport. For the Scourges and Talos i think i might choose a simpler scheme, modelling wise i think i shall make some kind of Haemonculus to tie them in and join Tregorrin's retinue.

Remember to click on it to zoom in! Even if my paintwork doesn't really hold up hehe.

Thinking of some guardsmen next, scheme probably the inverse of the standard Cadian one. Eyeing up some of the Anvil bits, mostly as they're considerably better value than any of the rest, 'Mad Robot's version of the rolled up sleeve arms are slightly nicer imo (alongside the awesome 'Fatigue legs' with normal looking feet instead of size 37 ski-boots) but ridiculously expensive. Sadly nobody does the kind of helmet i want, one like the tanker one you get with the vehicle upgrade sprue but without the goggles or mic. I like the oversized nature of the Cadian ones but converting them one by one becomes tedious.

Thanks for the reply, finished those guys, posted them up on a different thread. Working on the Talos and a few other things, have been wasting my free time playing the computer game 'Grim Dawn' lately. Will post something or other tomorrow/day after most likely.

I still possess a bunch of Cadian troops and have been making various attempts and brainstorming ideas to 'update' them in a way that pleases me. I made a pair of example models but they just lacked a certain something. Was browsing models to (attempt to) help out someone on the P&M section when i came across the Wargames Factory WW2 kits and more specifically the 'Late period' German infantry. I really digged them and due to some shameless lurking on Wyrmalla's cool Alt-History P&M blog i bought some for something a bit different (I owned precisely 1 non-GW model, an infinity something or other i bought for the Dakka competition way back). I'm not going to lie i did think the legs were promising for possible Guardsmen conversions but i didn't get my hopes up too much as i recalled the LOTR models being 'true' 28mm and being pretty teeny. They were indeed a bit on the small side but i thought there was some potential after all.

Here's my attempt at some 'truescale' guardsmen, if you're in a particularly dark mood one could say they make rather good 'imperial cadets' *cough* child soldiers *cough*. Please note i did challenge myself to use the standard Cadian Lasgun (some not-so-subtle trimming notwithstanding, aside from the 'reciever' i've thinned it by ~50% ) and the helmet (with a truescale head, i REALLY dig oversized helmets okay)

Men of The Idiran 3rd

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just a couple more shots of the truescale guard and a priest i made, wanted to showcase some of the detail i did retain from the WGF figures. I think i've managed to create the most generic Inq28 figure in existence, despite a ton of effort. That's a painstakingly carved ungor torso and 2 Dark Eldar legs that were never meant to go together, plus some sculpting. I like the contrast between him and the Idiran 3rd infantry, showing perhaps that your average 40k human is infact far from average.

Was in a hobby mood again, decided to do some space marines. I was looking at the news and rumours and saw that there's gonna be a new 40k skirmish game so i thought i'd make a 'Killteam' of Astartes. Although i have been sorely tempted by all of the new kits that have came out in the last few years i've just used what i had to hand. So this is a Deathwatch/Primaris free zone, stay tuned if you're a little tired of the old models and are looking for ideas on how to make the most of 'em

Here's a sneak peek of the two 'Heavy' operators in the squad, i haven't polished the leg conversions on either and the whole squad is awaiting a greenstuff 'art pass' before priming. Will show pics of the entire 5 man team once they're primed.

++Diatribors Chapter Non-codex Formation++ Sustained contact operations 'Interfector' Squad. Specialization: Static conflict zones/Deep penetration of enemy territory

BTW 'Interfector' is a pretty neato word GW aren't hip to yet, it is the way to refer to one who is in the process of seeking revenge. Pretty cool huh?

Thanks Monkey, i still have the priest and the small guardsmen on the bench, was considering a very simple scheme just to get 'em done. The only thing is that the Wargames Factory figs have some very small details which i struggle with.

Here's some progress on the marines, the Sgt has a more or less complete version of the bluish grey and leather webbings. The rest need a similar treatment but i burned out a bit doing the yellow, and that's only a small amount compared to the grey

Hey all long time no post, got a bit obsessed with Destiny 2 (Battlenet: Stavi0Deluxe#2124 ) last year so haven't done any productive hobby stuff for ages. Thought i'd start something new, although i do plan to finish the space marines pictured above. So i decided to make some Chaos Space marines, two to be exact.

Here's the first guy, the conversion is based off of some of the Deathwatch legs, as i snagged some off Ebay a little while back. Really recommend them as they are better posed than normal marine legs (gotta blast those quads with some squats bro), and are more 'Truescale' without needing to use Teminator or Primaris gams, which are also, y'know, squatting.

Here's the complete assembly for the first guy, Nilic Orser, he's one of the 'Augustine Carnivores' a renegade warband of my own devising. The other guy, Tyce Gorthamaggis, still needs a good bit of assembly but should be ready soon.

I also wrote a little fluff to get some creative juices flowing if you're interested:

Clods of mud had made for decent enough toys when there was nothing else. He and the other boys would spend hours chucking them, at each other, at the tall silo doors and unto the flanks of derelict machinery. Ending each day laughing and caked in mud. Those other boys were long dead but the ache of the dried dirt under his fingernails remained, like a phantom pain. They, the lucky ones at least, had become men before they died, they had been cut and they had been through the rites, Nilic had been taken before then. If he returned to the shanty huts, his metal shod feet sinking deep into his home-mud, would they see him as a man? Afterall, he was still uncut, his armour would hide it but might they guess?

The Patron knew of Nilic's secret pain,
'you are an imposter as long as you feel yourself to be',
He would say, The Patron knew of all secret shames, it was a mainstay of his compact. The Patron knew all of his warriors intimately and there was not a one who lacked his undivided attention, affection. To the whole he taught only one lesson,
'Only in the fires of sacrifice can one forge a new family amongst your brethren but the selfish secret-flame must remain, the Carnivorous Ascent. Feast on morsels from the bested strong and allow the flesh of the weak to pass through you, crop and bowel'.

Nilic had been loyal, he watched brother kill brother as his legion tore itself apart. He had survived the Heresy, even fought at Calth for the victors. He remembered the unbridled radiation of Veridia scorching his blackened armour all the more. He had longed to be one of the broken bodies staying shut the Ultimate Gate but had been denied, it was this; not the mutterings of 'true' loyalists that had first disquieted him. It was only when he was unleashed upon a traitor homeworld in the following century that he turned.

The armoured transport was a blur, not through any dramatic speed but because his eyes could not affix much focus. Nilic was somewhat proud of how decrepit he had become, the warp and the long years blunting his post-human faculties. He retained a wicked strength but his armour bit deeper into his degrading limbs, more and more becoming his extension, holding him together.

The vehicle was firing wildly in his direction, their sights and sight clearly little better than his. He drew up his bolt pistol and squared it where he assumed the weaponry would be, his comrade Tyce, a little forward of his position, settled on the tracks as a target for his Plasma gun. Nilic felt the recoil, impudent yet predictable, as his bolt pistol barked a burst of rounds downrange. They struck the front glacis, a couple harmlessly but two into the mantlet of the forward gun, silencing it. Tyse chose his shots more carefully, the transport was now nearly on top of them. At the last second, the vehicle only a few metres away, his weapon discharged, stealing the air around them, smashing the right drive sprocket, sending it into a violent skid as the track unit unlaced, belching treads from the rear.

As one Nilic and Tyse leapt forward and with a blunt crash, shoulder tackled into the righter, disabled, track of the tank. Arresting any momentum and adding a significant helping of their own, rendering the skid all the more grievous. In a grace that was almost absurd the tonnage of the vehicle pirouetted past them, for a short time leaving the ground before it crashed back to earth, nearly capsizing.

At this Tyse pounced, ripping off the ruined hull gun and plugging the gap with his plasma rifle. He let off a barrage, transforming the tank's viewports into little strobes. Soon after Nilic heard the rear hatch falling open and the stumbling of three or four escapees. Tyce was occupied with his weapon, the hole it had filled was glowing molten at the edges, the muzzle of the plasma gun smoking and still near white hot.

Nilic strode out to the rear, right away a form nearly stumbled into him, delirious, hideously burned, he embraced it's shoulder and fired a mercy shot into it's abdomen. As the corpse slid off his waist he spied the second, the guardsmen had dropped all weaponry and pretence and was in open flight. Weak. He fired two shots low, the body tumbled in midair with contrary motion, both legs blown off and under.

Before the two fat contrails faded the third survivor attacked, rushing in and plunging a well-maintained bayonet into Nilic's underarm before he could lower his gun. Nilic dropped the pistol as the pain lanced up his wrist, he grunted with what might have been pain or subdued pleasure, not even he was sure. He twisted and brought the arm down with unmatchable speed, snapping the knife and throwing off the trooper in one movement.

Despite having ample time to react Nilic was surprised when the guardsman righted his scramble and made immediately for the dropped bolt-pistol in the dirt. Strength. Nilic closed the distance as the man closed his hands around his prize, he was slow to bring Nilic's weapon to bear, no doubt despairing at it's weight. The shot went wide, Nilic striking him across the face as the trooper pulled the trigger, cracking off his helmet. Nilic maintained his grip on the trooper and followed through, stoving his unprotected head down into the mud until it met something hard.

It was encased in a lobstered ceramite gauntlet, yet as he withdrew his hand from the mud, he felt a familiar ache under his fingernails.
