Shadespire and Necromunda are the two next big things I'm looking for in my gaming beyond the new Frostrave setting, Ghost Archipelago.
Anyone planning on picking it up/participating in the game?

Oh definitely. Those skeletons will be my first steps into the Death playerbase.

Also love the unique Stormcast stuff which is always a plus and maybe some Fyreslayers on the side.

Yes. Having such a small scale really helps my motivation painting a complete force... as three to six (?) models should be doable even for me. But besides that I'm waiting for Necromunda to hit shelves. In other words: my holiday schedule is rather tightly packed.

I liked everything in there and the price, for what is a board game, is about fine for me.

No, unless someone else buys it and offers me, which I'd be totally down to try. None of GW's board games appeal to me much.

I play all their board games. That said I will wait to see if this is picked up in my community or not. I'm tired of buying games that no one else wants to play.

I'm torn.

Not a big fan of card based faffing about, or non-standard dice chucking.

Shall have to see how it plays.

@ Mad Doc There is a BoLS video on a Shadespire match featuring Big K (Phil Kelly). Think of 1 vs 1 Gorechosen with teams, customisable decks for each player and winnable by scoring points for objectives and you won't be far off. It looks like a very good pick up game for club nights - choose and paint your team, build your deck (decks aren't set in stone) and start playing.
I probably won't be playing it cause I've not been in the mood for boardgames for the last 3 years - AoS collecting, painting and custom scenarios are still my thing. Not a fan of hex movement, deck driven games atm. The game looks solid, though.

The mechanics and scale of gameplay are exactly where I'm at right now. If I can make it work with my Heroscape tiles all the better.

Yes! I a must going to start with Bloodbound but will probably collect the entire range. Can't wait!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

No on Shadespire. I don't know anyone that'd be interested in it. Definite yes on Necromunda.

I tend to like boardgames with high quality models so i'll probably check it out. I also like the setting and models, having so few of them means I can actually paint each one to a high standard. The apparent price is kind of a turn off. But if the base game is really solid and the expansion teams are more reasonably priced i'm definitely going to get it around the holidays.

I'm honestly not super excited about the game (I think I'd prefer a more open ended skirmish game, like Infinity), but I love having small factions of 5 models to paint. That's about my attention span, so the idea that I can do a couple Stormcast, a couple Orks, then a couple skeletons without having to commit to an army of 20+ figures just to play is right up my alley. Seems like it will hit a sweet spot for me as someone who wants to play and wants to paint, but doesn't want to get bogged down by either.

Looks awful to me, but I'll be buying the Ironjawz for my army.

Probably not. My main issue is to find people to play with.
My board game group isn't so hot for miniatures, and from what I gather it's only for two players, while I tend to play board games with 4+ people. And at the local store, I'm afraid a board game will have a hard time getting any type of momentum.
But if I find some people to play, I might get the skellies when they come out, since they look so good. In any case, I won't be buying the starter box myself.

Well, good news: they dropped it down to 60 USD!

Fresus. Shadespire is for two to four players, so it can fit your tendencies!

I'm also reserving judgement until I see how the customisable cards are dished out.

If its the FFG method (killer card, but only if you buy a model you're definitely not going to use), they can get stuffed.

If it's blind buys ala Magic The Gathering? I could be persuaded.

I think it will appeal to the board gaming friends, I have. There's some interest at our wargaming club although it is being seen as up against the skirmish games such as Malifaux or Necromunda.

I'm going to try it but really, unless the deck building offers enough to ensure replay value I do fear it could get a bit short lived.

Expansions confirmed to contain 29 faction specific cards, and 31 generic ones.

Not presently clear if it's all a FFG, with different generics.

Thank you.

Unless one's in game deck is smaller than sixty I don't see the opportunity for deck building.

Assuming that the generic cards are the same for every race would mean no swapping around to customise a deck.

That seems to point to different generic cards with each race pack.

My next question would be whether they are random (bad competitively) or set.

The ingame decks will be exactly 12 objective cards and at least 20 ploy and upgrade cards with at least half being upgrades. Given that there is no way to play more than 15 cards in a game, most people will build a deck of their favourite 20 cards, which leaves plenty of room for deck building.
If you look at the images of the cards you will see that they are all numbered as part of a 437 card set. The character cards are not numbered. With 96 cards in the box that leaves 341.
I think we will get 5 expansions (60 cards each) and two alternative heroes for Stormcast and khorne each with 20 cards in the first season.
This suggests to me that there will not be random cards.
That said this is all speculation so I may be wrong.

Random cards have been outright stated to NOT be a thing in this game from the horse's mouth.

GW's description mentions a two player game, but some cards indeed have indications that it can be played with 3 or 4 players.
Thanks for pointing this out, because GW doesn't advertise that point enough in my opinion.
That makes it much more interesting for me.

I'm very excited for Shadespire. A game that combines the awesome lore and world of Warhammer, with a competitive MTG/X-Wing style game... OOoooh baby!

I think the small, quick format will be great for pick-up games, and the more limited scope will hopefully make the game more competitively balanced than AoS or 40K. Can't wait!

My only question is, when are KO and DoT going to be released as Warbands?

Yes looking forward to this. Hopefully the expansions are reasonably priced because the skellies and ork models are great and am looking forward to seeing the Bloodwarrior and Vanguard Chamber sets.

After watching a couple videos about it now...

Absolutely picking it up.

(Side note: a little bummed/glad to see it seems to be using some ideas very similar to a game I've been developing for the last couple years... now if I could win the lottery to afford all the production costs.)
