2 months into painting and loving it!

Hugely annoyed at the finish on this model my bottle of quickshade strong tone either is different to tin or is faulty, all it did was tint my paintjob with no shading or varnish effect.
So as much as i love this finished model im bummed that my best paintjob in 2 months of trying is a shade to dark, because i had to use the real stuff over the top and my drybrushing and some effect work is covered up!

Oh well learnt that before trying mortarion so thats good lol.

Good job putting the Plagueripper to use, it looks the part flipped around like that. I wouldn't worry too much about the wash, if you are so inclined you can just come back over the raised areas with your base color and it could end up looking quite good.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Looks good to me, certainly better than GW's Typhus or their attempt at a DG paint scheme.

For what it's worth my experience is that the bottled stuff is more like a wash than the tinned shade and the bottles need a hell of a good shake first or they go into a super gloss mode of some kind.

I use pretty much all of the Army Painter shades regularly and they certainly will dry glossy if you apply them too thickly and let them pool on the flat surfaces of the model. I usually apply them as a pin wash where I want them to settle and then lightly stain the rest of the base color with a very thin coat. If you try to use them like you would the "dip", that is, if you blast the entire miniature with a heavy coat of it and let it dry, then you will often get results like this where the entire miniature is darkened and glossed over.

Ah good to know!! ive had amazing results with the tinshade i shall call it that from now on lol!! But the bottleshade totally caught me offguard it was nothing like the tin even after a good shaking!

It didnt even gloss it just tinted everything a browner shade and no pooling or shading at all.

Ok so now i will treat it exactly as i do the other bottle shades and all should be well.

Ive got mortarion staring at me and im and scared too try my meagre skills on him!!!
