So I ordered myself a wing of Cerastus Knights (yes, 3 of them ) ....

And I'm totally going to write a backstory about those 3 Knights. They are glorious and rare-to-be-seen models. I dont plan on buying more Knights because 3 of them already are 1500 Points and I dont think I even get to field them all at once very often. (Got Imperial Guard as primary army)

The Backstory will be something like: They're the last survivors of a Household roaming around the Galaxy on a quest for glory and an honourable death in battle. Mercenaries (Kind of).
They'll be some of the meanest motherfethers both in and out of their Knights and I plan on kitbashing together 3 really nice Pilot models to go with the Story.

Thing is: I want to Play them too. The Knight Pilots I mean. So I came up with this:

They'd get the rules of Tempestor Primes (which are the only AM related HQs that can deepstrike - amirite?) When one of the Knights gets destroyed I'll use the deepstrike rules to deepstrike the "Pilot" right next to the "Wreck" (I know there are no wrecks in this edition)

The slight rule adjustment to this is: For obvious reasons they could deepstrike after turn 3. Anything else would be stupid. As compensation for that I only get to field the models after a Knight goes down and I can only deepstrike right next to the wreck. Lets say.. 6 inches.

What do you guys think about this? Do you like this Idea?

Well, if you wanted to do that, it would probably make more sense to use the disembarking from wrecks rule - basically, they are placed within 3" of the wreck, and are removed on a roll of a 1 (they don't make it out of the destroyed vehicle).

Secondly, you'd have to use reinforcement points for them - so basically you'd have to include the price for a tempestor prime in addition to the price of the knight.

That might be kind of fun, I suppose. not entirely sure it would be good, but fun.

I don't want to alter the rules too much. My suggestion is just a very minor adjustment. What do you mean by reinforcement Points? If I field all Knights at once I can just add a surpreme command court. If I field one or two in Addition to my Astra Milli.. - *blam* - Imperial Guard I can just add the Tempestors to any existing detachment.

If you're talking about the general Point cost of the Tempestors - of course I'd pay the points for them

It's not supposed to be good. I dont Play any 40k army to be good. I always take my time to create a Story with and around my armies. Thats most important to me.

Naturally, you'd need to pay the points for it and make sure any opponents are clear with it, but you seem to have those covered.

I'd do what Krump says and use the vehicle disembarkation rules when destroyed. They work fine and make sense.
