Mythic Games are following up the Mythic Battles: Pantheon KS they did late last year in partnership with Monolith, with Time of Legends: Joan of Arc. This is another minis board game that blends history and legend together, and this time the setting is the Hundred Years War. It can be played straight historical but in the main is a fantasy/historical game. The show stopper is the dragon mini that they showed off at GenCon. It has a 54cm wingspan and they've said it'll be available as an add-on during the campaign for about $60. There's also a large castle available as an add-on too. The core game is scenario-based. The two they've showed off have been a narrative hunt for a werewolf (based on the same legend which inspired The Brotherhood of the Wolf movie), and a more combat-focused escort the wagon scenario. It goes live on October 10th, the core pledge is $120 and there'll be some early birds at $110.

I'm going to be going for this one, simply because of the way that Mythic handled the Mythic Battles: Pantheon KS.

Without a shadow of a doubt the best bit of peri and post campaign communication that I've ever seen; it should be the gold standard for running a Kickstarter.

That's before even mentioning concept, design, art direction, rules, miniature design and quality, value for money and a serious level of enthusiasm for the project by the creators.

I might be interested, especially in female knights. Women in proper armour instead of Female Fantasy Armour would be really nice to have.

Free from GW's tyranny and the hobby is looking better for it

I'm not expecting any female knights. Sure, Joan herself (not a knight and more of a leader than a fighter), but other than that?

It seems that there are going to be two sides to the units: real, historical units and characters along with supernatural units that people of the time believed were real things. Angels, demons, witches and dragons, sure. Women doing a man's job of being a knight? Heresy!

There's a competition currently running on BGG to win the dragon and castle add-ons. You can enter here -

Hmm looks interesting and cool dragon / castle!

I was hoping they were going to do multiple pantheons myself...

They do have further plans for the Mythic Battles pantheons, but they have other games lined up to get through as well.

They're not talking about them for various reasons, but one that they've mentioned was not distracting from the next project in line. Case in point: the artwork from Mythic Battles: Ragnarok that made an appearance at the end of the MBP Kickstarter campaign. Suddenly, people are talking about that and not the project that just funded and still has a year (at that point in time) to deliver.

The next thing they have in the pipeline, JoA, suddenly has to focus the attention back onto itself and off of Thor, Odin and Jormungandr. Attention being important for that Kickstarter funding and all.

So, whilst they have plans. Big plans. The best plans; I'd expect Mythic to keep schtum for as long as possible.

We've been told the Norse MB is no earlier than 2019, and late 2019 at that as Monolith are running another Conan KS in early 2019.

The trailer for the KS has been released -

And here's a painted version of the dragon -

This greatly reminds me of a PSP game I used to play called Jeanne d'Arc. It was a turn based tactics RPG set in a fantasy France where the English used demons and monsters while you played as Joan of Arc and a party of her allies (including Gilles de Rais!).

I loved that game, and this looks really cool so far. I'll consider supporting it for sure!

Dragon is huge btw.

Looks cool and may consider it. Though weary of mini game KSes as that DEC 2018 date will 100% be March or later 2019

Also disappointed in the joan models. Very static poses. One of them should be her with a sword ready to attack

In order to not split the conversation on what looks to be a rather cool game, let's keep the conversation here:

at least until the KS is over!
