In the "Transports" breakout it explains that when you set up a transport, you can set up units embarked within that transport at the same time "instead of being set up separately." p. 183

So it's one "set up" for the transport and any embarked units.

Matched play mission rules explain that "The player who finished setting up their army first can choose to take the first or second turn." This is on each mission's individual page.

So Player A did 3 "set ups" and Player B did 5 "set ups." Player A has the option of going first.

When you set up a transport, units can start the battle embarked
within it instead of being set up separately –

Makes it possible to deploy a larger Army faster then an opponent, and even fits Narrative as well.
An Army with Transports will be mobile, and thus pick where and when the battle begins more times then not.

Do keep in mind that there are some new pieces of Errata in the works:

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

New incoming rules =/= errata ;-)

Unless your play group is already vocal against adapting these Rule changes when they are released, I would still take the advice and keep in mind this errata is in the works.

Sorry jinxy; still not errata, but they are optional rules.

And not sure if you really meant adapting(as in altering them to suit your use) or adopting(as in putting them to use).

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Adapting, but I have never claimed the most accurate use of the English language.

Honestly, all I have seen on these rules is the 'sneak peek' article listed by Ghaz, and it is filled with words like:
... making sure that your matched play games are as fun and as balanced as possible....
...one of the areas we get the most correspondence about is matched play....
... we see certain themes emerge about rules that might not be working properly, we can take steps to address them...
... new matched play rules, all of which are designed to help redress certain imbalances or exploits within the rules...
... the feedback we have received since suggests that it did not go far enough...

Please forgive me for thinking the Authors have informed us they have planned fixes in the work, and are not just working on a book with additional Missions within it.

I was under the impression that Chapter approved was a whole bunch of errata/rules updates.

From Warhammer Community:

We’ve heard a little more about what we can look forward to in the upcoming Chapter Approved, and it sounds more and more exciting the more we hear.

We learned at NOVA tonight that the new book will feature, (amongst many other things)

* An expansion for Apocalypse games of Warhammer 40,000
* Guidelines on running a planetary invasion campaign
* Updated matched play points for dozens of units and weapons across every army
* Loads of new Missions for open, narrative and matched play.

We are also bringing a whole new feature to Open Play. Designing and building your own vehicles is a feature that hasn’t appeared in Warhammer 40,000 since 5th Edition. We are going to trial some new rules to allow you to design your very own Land Raider variants and field these behemoths on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium.

Finally Chapter Approved will also give Factions that have not yet received their codex some expanded rules while they wait, allowing these factions to make use of some of the cool new mechanics available in Warhammer 40,000.

Chapter Approved is looking like a must for any dedicated Warhammer 40,000 player.

Only complaint I have about that Ghaz:
Why the hell mention just Land Raider when Game Workshop has bloody Orks!?
There better damn well be Looted Vehicle Rules along side those Land Raiders or else this is human-bias again!

If you're going to have an open beta test of the Vehicle Design Rules, it helps to make them available to the most players as possible. The Land Raider is the one vehicle available to the most Factions in the game.

Beh, common sense to test new Rules using a more controllable group be damned... oh, won't somebody please think of the Orks!

I'll make sure to think of how many orks my custom Landraider can kill per turn - does that satisfy your demands?

The rules are already basically there in 8th: take a base-unit(any base-unit), arm the models in said unit as you please, pay the points cost for unit + wargear.

But the land raider does have many, easy, hard-pounts for weapons conversions; so that may have more to do with it. So long as it doesn't get horribly abused(don't hold your breath) battlewagons will probably be next.

Hard-points on a land raider: 2/side that can fit pred-sponsons, front turret that can fit razorback and gun emplacement turrets, 2 pintle-mounts.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Nekooni,
It made me smile so yes, I am pleased that someone is thinking about the Orks....
