So I've finally made a list without Mortarion and it's quite bare minimum in terms of characters, but I wanted to see how many marines I could chuck in with a strong number of supporting drones/tanks. It may be worth though taking some stuff out to fit in some extra characters for the auras.

I tend to hate spammy lists, but this one actually looks pretty cool in my head; the marching lines of marines with the drones swooping in and the tanks bombarding from the back. Perhaps some pox walkers would be good for screening though, or a Bell dude to help with mobility. What do you guys think? It's probably quite similar to what others have been going for tbh, I've seen plenty of people taking things in lots of 3's.

The other list I've been considering is almost certainly a lot weaker... It just has Morty in it, along with his glorious bodyguard. I'm wandering if there's a way to make this second list still feel the same, but be more like the first one, which is clearly stronger. I just love Morty and the Deathshroud models haha.

EDIT: I switched up the second list a little to have less Deathshroud and no Bell dude (hmm), but added more Plague Marines into the melee squad and added a unit of pox walkers for screening.

Hmmm, I would take squads of 5 instead of squads of 7. Its less fluffy I know, but you will have much less morale issues. And you can squeeze in more special guns overall. Like you could have 3 squads of 7 (9 special weapons), or 4 squads of 5 (then you would have 12 special weapons). Bringing extra plague marines in a squad just for some extra bolters isn't very point efficient.

That's a really good point. I was reading through their historical fluff too and what they were like before, and I was considering making them stay more true to that than Nurgle, especially as they follow Mortarion who's a little less into Nurgle (recent fluff seems to talk about how he's conflicted), so units of 7 is less necessary to be fluffy.

I would cut the Death Shroud and entropy cannons and bring a tally man and a couple of blight haulers.

As in, swap out the Plague Crawlers for blight haulers?

I like your first, after little pondering I started to like more of a wholly advancing tide.

For spammier version:

3x Nurgle DP with wings

4x 5man PM with 3x special and PF's

3x myphitic haulers

3x plague crawlers with entropy cannons

All this as a wide tri-lined blob of rot and decay moving towards the enemy. Haulers for dakka and cover for PM etc. Atleast a fun vision in my head.

Anyways first list feels fun, with fluffy 7man PM's or with the more competitive 5man.. No grenade shenagian elite for the cc/PM's? Although single cc threat can be easily outtaked. For cc PM I'd always take a transport.

If you want to footslog marines U do need the Noxius Blightbringer.
I would bring atleast 2 units of poxwalkers, 20 man each. Take Typhus instead of the LoC, he makes them so much better. And buff them with Miasma of pestilence and the Putri Vitality so they are -1 to hit and 5 T.
Either bring the plague marine squad up to 20 and get a Biologus Putrifier. Equip 10 with bubonic axes. Those grenades are awesome and use the stratagem so they are untargetable unless they are the closest unit or Make 2 squads (10 and 9) in Rhinos (one with Blightlaunchers and one with bubonic axes and put the Putrifier in the Rhino with them) With the Blades of putri they will do mortal wounds on 5+; Veterans of the Long war when they are in CC and they will do mortal wounds on 5+ aswell.

Drop the Deathshroud, I think they are overpriced tbh for what they can bring (only 2 wounds...)

What about this? I had an idea to turn a Contemptor into a Daemon Prince of Nurgle, flanked by his Hellbrute bodyguard. I gave them both a set of fists and flamers to work with him as they all sprint in for melee mayhem but maybe arming them with other weapons would be better?
