Just like the title says, is the new expansion any good? I played the original and like the storyline and some of the game play but got bored with the end game. I played a paladin in the first go around but samurai has caught my eye. Did they fix the xp grind where if you pick a new job you dont spend hours upon hours getting it up? Also, how are professions in the new expansion?
Thanks for you time, and sorry if this is in another thread somewhere.
It still takes some grinding to get a job up, but this is alleviated by the Palace of the Dead, a semi-random dungeon of 100 floors done 10 at a time. Each time you finish 10, you generally get enough xp to level up (a couple times at low level, one per run at mid level) and runs are generally quick, about 15-20 minutes.
Endgame is solid. The current endgame is pretty loaded with 6 extreme/savage difficulty trials right now, and more coming in October.
All of the professions got major overhauls in the expansion, generally with new resources and gauges unique to the classes specifically. All of them are pretty fun to play in my experience (played Red Mage, Machinist, Dark Knight and Dragoon so far).
Thanks for the comments! I have a 10 month old so time is not really on my side. Wow was getting boring, so I thought a new flavor change would be nice. Really all I do with it are raids on 2 hours a night on tues and sometimes wed. Its kinda on farm mode now.
Well, that is one major difference between WoW and FF14. Raid time is considerably different since almost all raids and raid bosses are single-encounter dungeons. No trash or walking back, just boom, you're at the boss. So there's less time investment needed to do raids.
Also coming in 2 weeks is the 4.1 patch, which is just packed with new content. The patch contains:
2 new dungeons 1 new raid 1 new extreme mode trial A whole new difficulty tier for the Bahamut raids New sidequests New story quests New pvp arena New player housing
