I'm planning on using my old tomb king army in Kings of War as Empire of Dust. Can someone give me a rundown if this is a decent faction power-wise? I'm ok with not running top tier builds but I don't want to be running a wet paper bag that gets pwned and tabled regularly either.

Hi and welcome to the fold.

First, know while there are some factions that are slightly easier to play than others, it's not at the level it was in Warhammer, even the "'worst" factions can win tournaments with a good players, there is probably less difference power wise between the worst and best KoW factions than there was in different armies from the same factions in warhammer.

That said, Empire of Dust are probably *slightly* harder to play than the core undead, but it's probably more due to the fact that the core undead units are a mix of very cheap chaff like zombies with ultra elite units like vampires knights (soul reavers), so they are rather straightforward to play compared with the Empire of Dust where you have a mix of "medium" undeads with some monsters, so they tend to play with a more combined arms approach.

I would say that my main regret with the EoD list is that chariots could better, their profile are in fact not bad for their points, the killer is the huge unit footprint that can make them hard to use effectively, and it's a shame for such nice models, but even there they are far from useless.

I recommand that you read http://z4.invisionfree.com/Khemri/index.php?showtopic=16478 for information on how to use surge, if you played Tomb Kinds you should be happy to get back the old feeling of using magic to complement your slow movement phase and do thing like charging with magic.

PS : a Morghast on a 50x50mm square base make a very nice bone dragon model

If you have some models from your old TK army that you are not sure how to use in KoW don't hesistate to asks, there is usually an option for almost everything.

TLDR : nice army, average in the grand scheme of things, but can be powerful if used correctly

I'm creative I'll find a use for most everything. I noticed mummies in the EoD army I'll need to pick up.

Thanks for the input.
