Interesting, needed to build subassemblies and paint them pretty much completely before glueing him together, seeing all the videos of him assembled completely without even primer makes me cringe.

That said he is packed with detail thats easy to pick out and a pretty quick paint, around 9-10 hours to get him to tabletop standard

And here are some pics of my Demon Prince, based on the korgorath from age of sigmar. Was aiming for a necrotic flesh packed full of radioactive skulls vibe.

Myphetic Blight-Haulers - converted from Dark Imperium Foetid Blight Drones. Mounted IG missile launchers and various multi meltas in place of the side rotors and gave them a bunch of greenstuff tentacles to drag themaelves around on in place of the normal model's tracks.

@Knightley- Hey man, yeah I have been painting quite a lot of Age of Sigmar and other random projects but with the release of the new Death Guard I thought I would posting my work back here - only problem is I am using my phone not a PC so uploading photos is a nightmare!

Sooo, if any of you out there remember a thread of mine from several years ago you will know that I have a thing for Skaven in 40K. Now my first foray into this area fell apart due to a lot of factors, mostly being too ambitious and trying to build an entire army of the damn things!

But a few months ago I found this image online and it got me thinking

Since my new focus in the hobby is to have fun and just build and paint things because I want to and not because I have to build this unit for this list or get something ready for a tournament, I have started having a bash at converting a few of the Tech savvie Skaven,( I'm including them here mainly because running several P&M threads can be overwhelming)

So here is the beginnings of my 40K Skaven Incursion Cell

C&C welcome of course!

@ph34r - cheers!

@WM - Hey bro, yeah i thought i would quietly get back to posting, its been a while!

Update - only had a chance to work on the Skaven Cell Leader for a couple of hours but think i have the arms sorted and am now working on the armour to give a bit more of a distinct feel. Once i have some visual elements that i can re use on the rank and file clanrats i will begin work on them.

C&C Welcome as always

Cheers,

BLACKHAND

@ph34r - Not sure, some kind of Shadow War force, maybe Chaos Marines, run the leader as a marine and the clanrats as cultists? that's the beauty of modelling for fun and not for a game, it doesn't matter!

Started laying down paint on the Cell Leader, will be fairly monochrome with colour coming from its tumours and eyes

Also got some GS work done on the clanrats, one has a full body and head but for the second one i am having to rebuild the chest and shoulders so it has quite a different stance

Am also getting the basecoats on two Death Guard rhinos that i put together from a couple of third hand busted chassis i traded for and i will picks up once they are presentable

@WM - yeah i want rust and filth while still being able to see the original paint and the boils and tentacles i have added. Im not against caked on filth but its just not for me, i even went back last week and cleaned up alot of the rust on my plague marines for the same reason.

@inmygravenimage - it was you adding me to the gaming addicts FB page that got me back into posting bro so you only have yourself to blame!

Hell yeah 40k Skaven would fit in nicely to an Inquisimunda-style thing. Can't wait to see the cell come together.

Actually, I think they're perfect for a Death Guard/Nurgle army... at least that's what I'm hoping for.

@Gits - Haha, I knew you would be keen on the Rats, I was looking through my old thread the other day and seeing how much love it got gave the kick I needed to work on the Skaven idea that was knocking around my head. I can't promise a full army but at least a unit and some characters, and of course they are Nurgle themed, what else?

@YnneadwraithMade - Thanks, INQ28 has been a big inspiration for me, painting and modelling with a story in mind rather than an army list is quite liberating.

@CB - Cheers

What sort of gun arms will fit nicely on Skaven bodies? I've been thinking about doing a space Skaven force for a while now and the head swap part seems easy but the gun part seems harder.

The hard part is that the best skaven sculpts are the starter set ones and the have a sheild moulded to the body. They need a fair amoint of cutting and cleaning up to provide a decent shoulder for any arm to attach to, i have tried a few arms and really liked the way kroot arms look, only three fingers though so it makes it a bit hard to kitbash other guns.

For this project im using human hands and guns as a base and will attempt to sculpt my own greenstuff arms to get the poses i want

Right, the shields thing is an issue I am faced with as well. Are kroot arms the proper number of fingers for Skaven? That sounds like a good option.

Not really the right amount but in the end they are aliens in the distant future so who cares? Again it just restricts the weapon bits you have access to.
