I know these used to be included in the Dark Vengeance set, but since GW no longer sells that, it looks like the only cultist models available come from the 5-model 'easy to build" kit.
Also available is the 20 Cultists + Aspiring Champions set, but this has the same 5 Cultists models repeated 4x.
I find it odd that GW would stop production on these specific sculpts that are pretty essential to Cultists
Likewise, does this mean that the Chaos Codex does not include Cultist Champions or Cultists with heavy stubber or flamer, since the Codices are removing entries that do not have current model options? (I only have the Indexes)

So were the 5 sculpts that they currently sell.
They just transferred those 5 sculpts to a single sprue. Why haven't they done this for the 2 Champions and 2 special weapon sculpts?

They never transferred them. The current pack of 5 cultists came out around the same time as Dark Vengeance and were simply reused from the DV set. I think the original idea was to come out with a multipart plastic kit for cultists and the 5 chosen for the "snap fit" sprue were just to tie people over (kinda like the 3 "easy build" plague marines or Reivers). Unfortunately GW sorta just forgot that sometime after the 6th edition chaos codex.
This has been a well known problem for quite some time now. Fortunately you can probably bum a stubber or two off of an IG player or Imperial Knight and just swap it out for one of the autoguns.

Chaos Cultists prices have skyrocketed on Ebay after the discontinuation of Dark Vengeance for this exactly reason. The heavy weapon guys, the Sargeants, and half of the sculpts are OOP now.

I bought two copies of the Chaos half of Dark Vengeance from a vendor on Spain for something like 80$ two weeks ago.
Just by selling the 40 cultists I gained 120$

Last week I sold a bunch of cultists, the chaos lord and the squad of chosen from DV, made enough to buy Mortarion and 2 boxes of Blightlord terminators

One of my LGS sells the DV chosen for $2 each. He's a bits dealer as well.

That's roughly what ebay has them up for (albeit new on sprue). Even if you dropped the price a bit, you'd still sell them.

Sweet, I have 4 complete set of 20. A partial 5th set missing 1 heavy stubber and axe champ. Then i have an additional 37 random with 1 Shotgun champ.
I did not realize i had 138 cultist this whole time. Tomorrow i will make a dakka sales thread with pictures.
Nope, sorry you cant just cherry pick the heavies from the 4 complete sets ;p

They sell a box with the 20 Dark Vengeance cultists plus the limited Chaos Campion, it's marked as temporarily out of stock online ($48). It's called Chaos cult assault. Might find a box in a store or wait till they resupply.

What the kit lacks are the 2 "leader" figures and the 2 special weapon figures.
I managed to get both "sets" of cultists from ebay, thankfully at reasonable prices.
