Hi Dakka! Long time lurker, first time poster. I play in a fairly casual group. While we are mildly competitive, we are not tournament competitive. Eschewing function for flavor is not uncommon for us. Among the dozen of us, we have pretty much every army accounted for, so I could face anything and everything.

I have always wanted to own a baneblade variant (I particularly love the Stormlord) but I don't want to make a pure IG army. I have also always loved the idea of radical inquisitors and daemonhosts. So the theme of this list is an Inquisitor that is a psychic null, but employs the use of daemonhosts and psykers heavily due to his innate ability to control them. He's a megalomaniac, drunk on his own power, and I envision him commanding his forces from high atop the Stormlord. The guard regiment that he commandeered fanning out across the battlefield, while a flood of daemonhosts charge toward the enemy. Meanwhile the psykers in his command all know that at any moment they might succumb to their own power and become yet another one of his tortured, bound souls.

Enough fluff. Now the list!

Vanguard Detachment - 166 pts
Inquisitor (Iron Will) - Plasma Pistol, Null Rod
4x Daemonhosts

Vanguard Detachment - 159 pts
Inquisitor (Psyker) - Bolt Pistol, Power Maul
4x Daemonhosts

Battalion Detachment - 348 pts
2x Company Commander - Shotgun, Chainsword
4x 10 IG Infantry - Plasma Pistol, Plasma Gun, Lascannon

Spearhead Detachment - 795 pts
Tank Commander - Executioner Plasma Cannon, Plasma Sponsons, Heavy Bolter
3x Leman Russ - Executioner Plasma Cannons, Plasma Sponsons, Heavy Bolters

Supreme Command Detachment - 532 pts
3x Primaris Psykers
Stormlord - base model, no sponsons

Hits the mark at 2000 pts exactly and nets me a total of 10 CP. C&C please. Let me know if you think I'd be better off with other weapons loadouts. Also, for the battalion and the spearhead, which IG regiment would be best? Any ideas are welcome. I really like the idea of the list from a conversion and modeling stand point. Daemonhosts can pretty much look like anything, and with 8 of them I'll have a lot of freedom to screw around with ideas. I also like the idea of kitting out a Stormlord to look like an Inquisitors personal vehicle, like the old Fortress of Arrogance back in the day.

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to say I'm looking forward to see the Stormlord conversion! :-)

I think you could swap some of the IG for conscripts and a commissar to bubble wrap your stormlord with.
Tempestus that drop in with melta/plasma weapons can put some flexible pressure and hunt tank hunters is another idea.

Also, plasma pistol on the Inquisitor makes me nervous. If you can manage your rerolls etc it's relatively low risk to fire high power, but still.

Thanks for the feedback, Mellon! You make a valid point about the plasma on the HQ. Other than CP, I don't have anything to reroll those 1s. I added it bc I had the points at the end, but I'm by no means married to the idea.

I've given the list a lot more thought, and I agree I should have a squad of conscripts. I don't want to go full on conscript spam, but their purpose would be two-fold in my opinion. 1. They will bubble wrap the Stormlord, protecting it from deep strike shenanigans (especially now that one guy in our group is building a scions list) and 2. I'm probably going to use the Valhallan rules, so a 30 man conscript squad is perfect fodder for the "Send in the next wave" stratagem.

I'm thinking Valhallan because it will help keep my big tank functioning at full capacity longer, plus it will help my squads stick around so I don't have to invest in commissars. Also, I love snow bases, and would really like to try my hand at them, so Valhallan makes sense.

I'm also reconsidering some of the units. I might mess around with some special weapons squads to ride in the tank. 20 people can fire off the thing, after all. I think I may make use of crusaders, acolytes, and servitors, in an effort to emulate the Inquisitorial retinue of the past.
