GW is a cold and heartless company seeking all our wallets. Yeah we know this. Yet hidden in this hideous beast beat the hearts of hidden treasures.

Whats dakkas stories of top notch store managers or staff? Who are the champs to you?

For me, my local GW store manager is a champ. I went into the store the other day looking at dreadnoughts for a project ive been looking at doing but i just wanted the leg section of the model. I went of to eyeball one of the display models to gauge if my measurements would be right and next thing i know hes giving me one of his personal dreadnoughts (bagged up so none could see).
I now go out of my way to make sure i only buy from his store now.

Also, he is a fellow Sisters of Battle player. Anything Sisters takes a place of honour.
Celestine proudly on center display.
The new SoB omnibus; other stores ive been to have it tucked away on the bottom shelf where it camt be seen. His store its right at eye height, cover proudly displayed while books surrounding it have only their spines showing.

I have a friend who worked at forge world many years ago. He is a hero in the sense he knows exsactly how the miniatures work and how to clean them properly and put them together (as a lot of the more difficult metal and resin minitures can often look awful if you don't clean them and such.... so he's my hero for puting that stuff together! ) However, he had to leave GW because they paid him basically nothing and the conditions weren't the best. Really what we should all campaign for is GW workes getting paid a reasonable wage as they are often a lot more helpful than most other store workes who get paid way more.

Elite Tyranid Warrior

Don't know if you want these to be recent, this one took place at the start of 3rd ed:

I walked into my nearest gw with my mum (age 12) to learn more about those awesome Alien-like Tyranids. The manager told me plenty about them and showed me concept art of the coming new carnifex kit/Tyranid look. He even gave me their old 2nd ed codex when we left. 17 years later I still play nids l (though Cruddace did his best to convince me otherwise), and I still reread that dex sometimes. Pure gold imo.

Only ever shopped at one GW and the staff tried to jam any key word down your throat as a sale.
Can we give props to people who sell GW product but don't actually work for GW?

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

I have been a regular at a number of Warhammer stores in Queensland for a long time and have no bad stories. Always found staff friendly and enthusiastic about the hobby. My current local on the Sunshine Coast is outstanding! The store manager is a great guy, very enthusiastic about GW and always up for a chat about the latest happenings in GW. Is never pushy, but bends over backwards to help all regulars and customers. In the past, although I played in store I never painted/modelled in store declining to pack up the bits to do it. Our local provides such a great environment I now prefer to go in store to do the hobby side, and get some great advice too. My local represents what I think the gaming should be about - thumbs up!

Most the managers and staff (back when they had more than 1 staff) at my local GW stores have been pretty good IMO. Occasionally you get a new kid who has no idea how to interact with customers, which was a bit annoying during a period where they seemed to have a really high staff turnover rate, but for the most part they've been alright. The current GW manager was a bit awkward when he first started, but these days he's pretty good. He's been there for, ummm, I guess a few years now.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

GW customer service is excellent. I have to give massive props to the guys working in the warehouse. Any mistake, or any sort, is fixed in a manner that is both fast and over-generous.

Cannot fault them.

I have to second H.B.M.C on the quality of GW customer service - I've only had contact with them twice, but both times they were extremely good - prompt and generous, which is always much appreciated!

Liberal heresy spotted! I propose he be stuffed into a canon & fired into the glorious walls of GW corporate world headquarters.

'Ive been blessed to have 2 awesome managers at my local GW. One has gone onto bigger things within the company. He was such a great guy, friendly, took interest in everything and always remembered you name. He could always track down things you wanted. Managed to get me the renegade boxset a while after they stop selling them.
His replacement the current manager is equally awesome and looks after his customers. I work offshore so not around for allot of the releases. But he always makes sure that he has in stock what I want and ready for when I get back.
