They give away there is a twist when you load it up presumably to not trigger the special snowflakes of today and/or genuinely mentally ill/disturbed people.
It's worth playing though from scratch a 2nd time to see the other girls route, as well as figuring out the super sekret route.

So for some context, I came into this having never played a dating sim before.

I really enjoyed the first section of the game and quickly became invested in the characters. Honestly I could have played a whole game of just that! I liked reading the poetry a lot more than I expected, Natsuki’s first poem was particularily good, and felt the game delivered well on the ‘dating’ aspect.
Saori’s suicide was definitely a big shock and was by far the most emotional and impactful part of the game. It really made me question all the interactions we’d had up to that point and how selfish I’d been.
Honestly, I felt like the game would have been stronger had it ended there. The rest of the game was a little indulgent and did little to add to the message of how dating sims are a little selfish.
However there were some interesting puzzles and it did deliver to a degree on the horror aspect.
Overall, it was really good and I’m keen to go back and see how much my decisions can effect events and fiddle around with deleting or adding characters to the file at different stages to the game.
One thing that did bug me is that you cannot act like a well rounded human, if you like a girl you have to do always choose her in every interaction instead of trying to bond with all members of the group.
Finished it yesterday and got the super secret ending after looking up a guide. Did a blind playthrough first and then a guided one to get the final ending (which honestly I'm not sure it's worth it).

After going through all the character files, browsing the internet for fan theories and going through the homepage of dokidoki I think I can confidently say that anyone playing this game is actually wrong about what it is. It's not critic about dating sims. It's actually a pitch for the company to raise awarness about their next game (or book or movie, not sure) set to be released in 2018. Either this or dokidoki is to recieve a huge patch which changes the game from the ground up. Most likely you'll only be able to finish that game, or fully understand the story, if you've played and finished dokidoki.

I feel like there's alot of missed potential in dokidoki, which is one of the things makes me insecure about it's real intent. I feel like there should be more stuff concerning the character files. Natsuki is also left underdevelopped. There's some hidden stuff in the folder (happy thoughts, have a nice weekend) which I both just luckily stumbled across. I feel like if this game was what it gives itself to be, then it should have fleshed out that stuff. Messing around with the character files is honestly a great mechanic. But it only ever affect Monica or Sayori. So whatever is up with the character files will only connect to Sayori and Monica, so who knows what the hidden meaning behind that is. Maybe there's something yet to be discovered about being the dokidoki president. Some question the game raises is: How is Monika self aware? Why does Sayori become self aware after you delete Monika? When and why does Monika leave her message? The part about "telling everyone what'll happen" should be in the game right? Who and what is Libertina and the "third eye"? And why are all the girls so desperate for love? There's ALOT of stuff in dokidoki that doesn't get fleshed out or explained. I feel like if this was intended as a stand alone game, Natsuki, more choices and a happier ending including Monika should be possible.
Monika reminds me alot of Sans from undertale. Where Sans give up and becomes lazy monika never stops influencing her surroundings, driven by this mad desire to be loved by the protagonist. However, she has echoes of memories of something else. She knows this is not all there is. And yet, despite being forced to love you she can't completly remove her friends from exsistance. She deals with the knowledge that nothing matters, that there's more about her, and she wants to be a hero. But she can't. For the total monica experience playthrough the game second time and get the good ending. you might understand what the existance is like for monika. Also remove monikas character file after removing the "firstrun" file in the games folder. see how Sayori handles what Monika is going through. I get the feeling the whole game is actually a VR or something the girls are going through, maybe the PC in the next game will alter the codes of that VR to make the president aware of what's going on. Monika has immense streanght of character and is ultimately driven by her love for everyone.

There's ALOT of stuff in dokidoki that doesn't get fleshed out or explained.
I was the opposite, I liked the fact they didn't explain everything and felt the bits near the end did spoon feed you you plot a bit.

If Monika knows it is a game, then she knows Sayori isn't a real person so is driving her to suicide really evil at all? Kinda spoils one of the games best moments :-p
I played through it. All of it. Then I went back and tried to save Saori. It didnt work. Currently I am trying to play towards the golden ending. I have it figured out but I just need to find the time to finish playing through to it.
Also, IYuri is the best girl
