After months off of commission work rehabing an injured painting arm, I am returning to work.

These guys are simple table top level bugs. Client was very specific about what colors he wanted and the vibe, so these were classic assembly line Tyranids.

those are damn sweet for 'simple table top level'!
Congrats on getting well. I know the pain of an arm injury.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Very nice. The colour scheme reminds me of the scorpions that gave me the screaming abdabs in North Africa. Very believable.

Thanks, it took way longer than I expected. I think these days I define Table Top as anything a painter can easily breakdown in to a few easy steps to accomplish, not necessarily just the three color standard.

If I ever get around to started my third Tyranid army, I have a picture gallery of scorpions for inspiration. Muted colors like that look great on bugs.

Very nice work! I love the pastel, de-saturated colors as they give them a much more realistic and gritty feel than the brightly colored official paint jobs. It also allows your OSL effects to really stand out with their intensity.

I'd be intimidated to see that coming at me across the table. Beautiful work!

Oh man, these are lovely Nids! Love their natural colourings, that is one lucky client. I am becoming quite partial to ridiculously bright Nids, I'm starting to feel that they make nice canvases to try out more whacky paint jobs.

Once again, lovely force, I like the glowing eyes! I might give it a go for my guys - it certainly makes painting them easier.

Prime black
Airbrush GW Zandri dust on body
paint back in carapace with NATO Black (vallejo)
Airbrush Stonewall gray on carapace
Paint Hull Red (Vallejo) on claws/spikes
Paint Hull Red/Fire Red on tips of spikes
Heavy wash with Adrax Earthshade (using airbrush and thinned)
Drybrush Zandri Dust + White back up on skin
Edge Highlight Carapace with Stonewall + white, and pure white
Edge highlight claws/spikes with Hull Red+ Beige Red (vallejo)
Gloss Reikland Fleshshade in the 'vents'
Airbrush magic blue (vallejo) for the blues
Pure white in center of blues
The phosphorous is Vallejo escorpina green, then white on the ends, then spray the white with vallejo Light livery green

I think thats it, a procedural method that you can use for most any miniature to get the standard table top/commission look going. You'd eschew most of this if you're shooting for a higher quality look though, with a lot more brush work, airbrush blending, and so on. It just depends on the level/price point that youre going for.
