Subject: U.S. Gamer buying from Victoria Miniatures: Anything I should know?

Ultramarine Land Raider Pilot on Cruise Control

Hey All,
I just placed a purchase for some models from Victoria miniatures -- an Australian company -- and as I live in the U.S. I was wondering if there was anything related to shipping/customs I should be aware of beforehand. So I guess my question would be for any U.S. Gamers out there who have purchased from this company -- did you experience anything out of the ordinary?
Cheers.

I had nothing out of the ordinary happen either. My purchase was a while ago, but i remember it shipping and arriving in a timely fashion, considering the distance. Not super fast, i mean, just that everything was smooth.

I've bought from Vic like 5 times over the years and it always went smoothly for me. It usually gets here surprisingly fast considering it comes all the way from Australia.

Yep, Vic's good people. I've placed a few orders over the years and I typically get my stuff in about 2-3 weeks, which is not long at all considering the distance. Had one order go a bit awry but it was during the holidays and a simple email had it sorted out within 24 hours, which is noteworthy with the time shifts. Did once receive one box look like it had been punted over from Australia, seriously there was a gaping hole where the box had been crushed/torn by the postal services, but the things inside were packed to endure and everything was still there.
Shouldn't be any customs issues; pretty sure there's no duty on toy soldiers/games unless you're ordering in industrial quantities of them. It should just quietly show up wherever you had it sent to.

International shipping can be just as fast as ordering from within the states - depending on how fast the originating mail service is. Remember, we ship stuff by air now - nothing is more than two 10-15 hour legs from the US. There's a reason you can get stuff from China on eBay in 3-4 days.
I've heard nothing bad about Victoria Miniatures - being in the US we're fortunate to not have to put up with any customs fees or silly importation taxes etc. The only chance anything will get seized is if, for some reason, the folks bringing it in have reason to suspect it's contraband or something illegal.

Mine took a week and a half, maybe a couple weeks from what I recall, but nothing unreasonable given where it was coming from, and free shipping is always a plus.
Miniatures run a little expensive, but they're really good quality for what you're paying, and it's not quite like there's many alternatives at the same level of quality. The casts are generally less intricate than Forge World, at least in the not-Mordian line, but of the 30-some that I've ordered so far, I don't think I've had a single bent piece, which is amazing compared to FW, which I don't think I've had a single thing come from that didn't require rebending or even at least a couple times filling holes.
I feel like the Vic models are a little thinner, so you might have to do some work if you're going to mix and match GW bits with them. I did have to bend open some hands to fit plasmaguns into them and such.
