I love the latest Nagash model and will be getting it soon, but I don't play fantasy / AOS. So if I showed up to a friendly game with it and wanted to use it in my Chaos list what would you be OK with me using it as? I guess that's my basic question. I was thinking at first to use it as a "lord of change" but I already have one, granted it's the old model but I still love the way it looks. Running 2 lords of change when they look so different feels wrong to me. So then I thought maybe "Kairos Fateweaver" . But I am not sure. I mean I don't want to show up and say "Nagash is using Magnus the Reds rules". But when I do go into the conversation with my gaming group I want to make sure I am not going in with unreasonable requests. Any help on the question would be helpful.

I don't see why you can't use it as Magnus the Red. The Nagash model is massive and works as any daemon prince - greater daemon 'counts as'. As long as you aren't using it to represent a unit that already have one of on the table (i.e., Two Lords of Change), which might get a bit confusing, I wouldn't care what you used it as (soul grinder, etc.).

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love

So you would be cool with Nagash the Black using Magnus the Reds rules? And yeah I definitely don't want to confuse anyone with this.

Vigo. Spain.

Yeah, Nagash for a Magnus the Red Count-As is spot-on.
You are actually putting yourself at a disadvantage because Nagash is taller than Magnus, I believe.
To be honest, at least for me, he looks more like the Thousand Sons's Primarch than Magnus himsellf, with all his egiptian aesthetic.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Any disadvantage I would get by using Nagash would not bother me a bit since the model is so freaking sweet.

I figure Mortarion would be fine too

What Galas said. Alternatively, Fateweaver.

The Wraithknight in a Ynnari army would also be cool, use him as an extra large avatar of Death... (with a few guns strapped on of course)

Nagash as a God of the eldar... that would be interesting.

I second Mortarion.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I think Mortarion would be most fitting.

Someone actually converted a Nagash as an avatar of Cegorach (count as wraithknight, it was pre-Ynnari). I couldn't find the original post, but the image still floats around:

I'd be okay with you using it as Nagash. He has his own rules in the fantasy books. They're simple enough to translate and you would just give him S8, T7 like Magnus/Mortarion have.

It's called a thick skin. The Jersey born have it innately.

Lol yeah I remember that original Nagash model. The new one is amazing that one was literally a joke (I think I remember somewhere that the guy who did it sent them the worst thing he could do on purpose because he wanted to do it in a more detailed and stand out way but to his horror they actually accepted it on him)

Mortarion would work and make sense as well with pox walkers. But then egyptian theme of his story and the models look go's more to thousand sons to me.

That is an amazing conversion! Wow. Just wow.

If you go with mortarion and use skeletons as the poxwalkers, it'd give one hilariously morbid image of a shuffling bad of skeletons killing people and then de-boning them on site to make more skeletons.

As mentioned, some of the best uses for Nagash are: Magnus, Mortarion, WraithKnight, C'Tan, Greater Daemon, etc.

Yncarne too, very appropriate for a god of the dead.

Actually as long as my opponent told me what it was before the battle, I would be fine with him using Nagash as pretty much any large monster. If he pays the points and plays the rules, he can use a coke can if he really wants. I enjoy fielding a nicely painted army but not everyone enjoys painting or modelling as much as I do so its all cool.

Omg now I may have to do that. That's a terrific idea. And use the original Nagash model for aspiring sorcerers or something lol.

Conversion ideas are running through my head. This may not be the most effective idea for an army but it would be fluffy. A nurgel / tzeench combo army with Nagash leading pox walkers and rubric marines filling in for elites on the normal chaos detachment side.

It's too bad there is no Greater Daemon of Malal/Malice. Nagash would fit in very well there, I would think.
