If I take a prince from the Chaos codex and fill the troops choices up with daemons troops will they be OB SEC? For something to be a 'chaos space marine' detachment I'm guessing you only need to have one model with the 'heretic astartes' keyword

What constitutes a 'Chaos Space Marine detachment' is defined on page 156 of the codex:

In this section you’ll find rules for Battle-forged armies that include Chaos Space Marine Detachments – that is, any Detachment which only includes Chaos Space Marine units (as defined below).

In the rules described in this section we often refer to ‘Chaos Space Marine units’. This is shorthand for any unit that has one of the following Faction keywords: <LEGION>, BLACK LEGION, WORD BEARERS, IRON WARRIORS, ALPHA LEGION, NIGHT LORDS, WORLD EATERS, EMPEROR’S CHILDREN, FALLEN or RED CORSAIRS. A Chaos Space Marine Detachment is therefore one which only includes units with one of these keywords.

Didn't they faq all armies to have obsec in 8th as long as it's comprised fully of 1 faction? So you could just use index daemons.

No, they didn't FAQ it. They showed a preview of a rule which would do that, which will be in Chapter Approved once it's released. Right now, only Factions with released Codexes have "Objective Secured" style rules for Troops.

Whats the point in deamon troops then so annoyed right now as ive been using deamons as my troops, which means i shouldnt have been getting the buffs on my havocs.

If i summoned the deamons what happens then ?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Found a work around just stuck eveything i wanted to have buffs and put them in a spearhead detachment ,i still think they should have put an exception in for deamons like they did for fabus bile

Hmm, I went back to re-read the article and it seems you're right, Chapter Approved hasn't really been... approved yet technically. It's also the first time I noticed the new turn one rule is for the new missions, not the rulebook ones...

Well, either way our Gaming group has been using these in our games. The turn one just seems more fair for list building, an d the Object Secured just cuts down on New Codex syndrome.

Just discusses it with your opponent beforehand.

I can't agree with this enough - a friend of mine have been learning 8th edition and we've been playing troops as obsec just as a matter of course, to avoid any advantages from me having a codex and his army still using the Index. It's yet to actually change the result of a game, but he feels better because he doesn't feel at a disadvantage.
