Debating what I want to do for basing my Death Guard. Can't decide if I want to do something simple or more involved. Considered using this guide for basing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcPIG0TUeTo&feature=youtu.be. Although I will be painting them in the standard color scheme and that would be a fair amount of green. What are your opinions on what would look good or what is your standard basing method?

Well, as far as im conserned, there are 2 ways to base:
match the table you play the moust on(aka city, desert or woodland theme), or a theme that fits the army and not the table.

Usualy when i do theme, i select a bright base if the model is overall dark, and dark base if the model is bright.
it kinda shifts the fokus automaticly to the actual model that way.

You could allso go 3mm thick transparent bases and paint the edges black, but that is a style that you either hate or love.

I'd go either a deep rust colour on the GW base set or the mars red texture base paint. The red will contrast nicely with the green but because both suggestions are more on the dark brown side, the won't detract from the models themselves.
Saying that, here's what I did with my original DG:

The 1st colour is a deep red (the old dark flesh) then dry-brushed with 2 shades of grey. The grey acts as a neutral colour, the hint of red as a contrast to the main armour & compliment to the spots of red on the mini & the green static grass as a compliment to the green so everything ties together. However I wish I'd used a more burnt yellowy-green grass as the stuff I've used is just to bright & vibrant IMO.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I've bought some woodland scenic water effects and plan on doing brown earthy bases with murky pools here and there, I've also started to add some dead twigs and branches to continue the swamp effect

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples
