So I'm adding a Deathwatch kill team to my ever expanding Ravenwing force, but want your thoughts on how to flesh out the Kill team. A few guys have been building our forces over the past few months in 250pts intervals and so we have now reached 1750pts. I want to add in some deathwatch since my opponents include tau and tyranids (makes sense) and I want them to be a fast insertion kill team that arrives as backup (so no foot sloggers unless in aerial transport). I dropped a few units from my 1500pt Ravenwing list to feature this new content. Here it is so far...

Sammael 183
RW Apothecary 97
4 Black Knights 200
3 RW bikes, 2 meltas, AB w MM 210
3 RW bikes, 2 meltas, AB w MM 210
Darkshroud w Hvy bolter 138
Vengeance w AC 143

dropped the dark talon and replaced with

Corvus Blackstar, twin las, 2 stormstrike, Hurri bolter, Auspex 261

That leaves me with 308 points to flesh out the Deathwatch. I have a full kill team with mixed weaponry and an ordo Xenos Inquisitor with needle pistol and power maul. Also have 5 vanguard veterans equipped for close assault.

Do you know what you want to do with your Deathwatch? Do you want them to be melee or short range fire fight? I'll toss around a couple ideas.

( 85 ) Watch Captain - plasma pistol, power sword
( 223 ) Kill Team - 6 Veterans - 2 frag cannons, 3 combi-plasma, sergeant w/ power sword

The idea with this is pretty straight forward. Fly around in the corvas and drop them where you need to kill something. With the captain there, you can overcharge the plasma and the frag cannons can make a mess of most things. If things get sketchy, you can fire the bolter half of the combi weapons along with the plasma, though you won't want to over charge them.

( 102 ) Watch Captain - relic blade, plasma pistol
( 205 ) Kill Team - 7 Veterans - 2 heavy thunder hammers, black shield w/ power maul, sergeant w/ power maul, power maul

This does what it looks like, get into combat and hit with mauls and big hammers. Again you get in the corvas and drop where you think you need to smash. Personally, I think the shooty one will do better, but I wanted to at least give you an option for melee. Someone might be able to come up with something better, but 308 points is not a lot for Deathwatch.

If you do frag cannons for ur deathwatch I highly recommend putting a vanguard veteran in so you can fall back and shoot. Can't let frag cannons get pinned down.

I do like the idea of frag cannons, but that clearly places me in the "shooty" category. Was thinking about possibly 2 5 man teams...one shooty, one more choppy. That leaves out the Inquisitor though, who is freshly painted

Fluffwise deathwing got their bleached bone colors after thwarting off genestealer invasion.. so they are kind of anti xenos
