My friend and I are doing a cool campaign - the first to 7 wins of smaller games gets the first turn for our finale 6500 v 6500 point battle (Ultra Marines/Imperium vs WorldEaters/Khorne Demons). Whoever wins a smaller game gets to pick the scenario and points for the next game, so we can shape our armies to it (though there is still the variable of who goes first, defender/attacker etc). We've also added a house rule that first turn gets a -1 to hit - this has worked tremendously well for previous games to the campaign and makes things so much more balanced overall (eg. First turn wins 50/50 of the time rather than 90/10)
We've done Relic at 1800 points (he won that) and Meat Grinder at 2000 points (I won this one!). We want to vary our points so we can play some lower point games.
We want to do a 1250, though I am looking at the rulebook and wondering what game 'modes' are best for smaller point games.
Would really appreciate opinions from players, as I am fairly new to 40k (only played 8th).
What games do you prefer?
