I've had a lot of Guard stuff lying around for a year or so but never built/painted it due to other projects. With the recent release of Codex: AM I want to build a strong army. I've been reading through the codex and different doctrines and this is what I've come up with. I'm looking to make this list as competitive as possible so any critique, advice, recommendations are welcome.

Plan is to castle all the infantry and infantry commanders in my deployment zone. Conscripts and infantry squad provide a bubble wrap for the mortars and earthshakers. I'm going with Cadian on these right now but I'm really thinking about making them Catachan. Would getting to reroll 1's be better than getting to reroll 1 dice every time the earthshakers shoot?
The Tanks go in reserve to use the Tallarn Ambush Strategy and will come in turn 1 to do damage. They can all issue orders to themselves to reroll 1's, their turrets will get to fire twice, and IIRC they won't take the -1 to hit for moving. The Scions will come in the same turn as them for support or maybe turn two depending on bubble wrap, etc.
