So I play Kharadrons against exclusively a Sylvaneth opponent, and pretty much every game involves his monsters (at lower points, treelords, in today's game it was Alarielle) annihilating my units.

The cannons on the boats don't have the accuracy to put damage onto things, everything the army has has pitiful saves and poor To Hit, and Alarielle flies 16"... In melee she deals 5 damage with her horns which almost always score 2+ wounds for 5 damage each (no saves for frigates or Arkanaut companies...)

New thunderers seem like they could lay a few wounds down but due to their short range (like everything else in the army, it seems), they'll only get 1 turn of shooting - 2 if you roll double turns.

Are large units of skywardens with drillcannons the answer? Shoot them up, and then charge in? Preferably buffed by 1-2 alchemists - 1 for the pikes and 1 for the drill cannons?

12 endrinriggers with 4 drill cannons, kept in an ironclad with 2 khemists. Jump out, buff drill cannons & melee weapon, shoot then charge.

Alternatively just go second and get the double turn since that wtfpwns almost anything when you're running a shooting army.
