I'd like to see the option for various IG tank hulls - Leman Russ, Baneblade variants and the like, tobe able to upgrade to Veteran status and/or put a unique Ace (similar to Pask) into their tanks.

Veteran (8 pts. / 15 pt. for superheavy): +1 BS with turret weapons, sponson and hull weapons suffer no minus to hit when moving.

Ace (20 pts): You may take one Ace per unit. Same rules as Veteran. You may reroll misses with a turret weapon and reroll 1's with sponson weapons. When rolling damage for turret weapon, you may choose to reroll the result. If you reroll, you must reroll all damage dice.

Then they'd be the same BS as Tank Commanders. You could just add Tank Commanders to your list and not issue orders with them

This is problem with a D6 system. If you give them +1 bs than you might as well pay the points for the commands as well, because the additional BS is a huge part of that price.

15 Points? For +1 BS on every single weapon a Baneblade (or variant) has?

That is FAR too cheap.

I was just thinking this - Tank Veterans basically already exist.

Also as stated above, 8/15pts is FAR too cheap. Every IG tank would be upgraded in a heartbeat.

It's only +1 BS on the TURRET weapon, not all weapons. What would you consider to be an appropriate cost?

Also, commanders are HQ vs. leaving these as Heavy support, I believe, so assuming you had the points, you could fit more into a list. Which gets me thinking - should adding Veteran or Ace change it from Heavy Support to Elite?

Well, it changes from hitting 3/6 times to 4/6 times. That's a 33% increase in power-but it does NOT increase durability or movement or such.

So I'd say about 25% the cost of a Russ, bare minimum.

The Turret weapon is the most important part of the tank. To put it into perspective, getting a +1 to hit (same as -1 BS) is an ability granted by the salamander command vehicle, a 100pt elite option. Commisar yarrick does it at 130 pts. Tank Commanders are a 40pt upgrade, with Pask is nearly 50pt upgrade and a character to boot.

Hmmm..... speaking of Aces, what about for Valkyries? Like in the old 7th Death from the skies, have Flight Leaders and Aces. Thoughts?

Well...

The Shadowsword can take Targeters for +1BS...

I will not rest until the Tabletop Imperial Guard has been reduced to complete mediocrity. This is completely reflected in the lore.

Er, no. That's not how it works.

Targeters grant you +1 to Hit rolls when shooting at things that have the Titanic keyword.
It's actually a downgrade from the Index version, which was just a flat +1 to Hit rolls made against a Titanic keyword target...which was entertaining as heck since you could ram a Stormsurge or something of that nature and hit on 4's, wound on 2's(S9 v T7), and deal AP-2 D3 damage attacks as many as 9 times in a Fight phase.

A regular Russ has a base cost of 122, while a Tank Commander is 167. 25% more than 122 would be 152 - a bit much considering a Tank Commander is just 15 points more and has much more utility, with orders, and hits on 3+ with hull and sponson weapons too.
140 should be a good base cost, if only the turret weapon got the benefit of increased BS.

Over all I'd like to see more tank characters brought back, like Maximillian Weissman (Baneblade ace), General Grizmund and Obadiah "Oddball" Scheer.

no to that fluff abomination. The Valkyrie is a transport helicopter with a couple of door gunners and rocket pods for strafing attacks. It is NOT an air superiority fighter, no matter how much GW tries to push that idiocy out of stubborn determination to purge everything but their current plastic kit range from the fluff. Fighter aces should be given to the Thunderbolt and Lightning, the Imperium's actual air superiority fighters.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
