I could not see another thread so posted this one.
Has anyone been using the Helion Battle for Britain Paper miniatures? Please if you are a dyed in the wiool it must be a 3d metal/plastic figure and nothing else is "real" wargamingm, then this is not the thread for you, but I would point out that papaer sioliers and flats have been around an awfully long time.
Back to subject, I had been thinking about these for a while (I am a wargaming heretic who like 2 and 3mm as well) but it was the new battle for America books that caught my eye. I found them a a discount on Amazon and plunged right in, starting with the ACW set. As a long time ACW wargamer I was really but pleasantly surprised. The illustrations for the figures are simply quite gorgeous and there is so much variety , plus given you also get scenery and a basic set of rules, you have a wargaming package for less than £7.00. Assembly and cutting out is straightforward - I cannot be as precise as the authors due to big clumsy fingers - and once you have a few stands very effective. Each sheet generally suuplies around four stands plus a couple of stands of skirmishers or extras.
The figures are true 28mm but I have exprimented with printing ratios and they make very effective 15mm - the 10mm were reasonable but probably need higher resolution/printer
The AWI book looks just as good but as yet I have not started any of the stands. Going forward next year helion are producing books for the Jacobite rising and the Blenheim campaign .
I have bee prniting up shetts and fetting the younger members of our club - as well as my family - who want to have there own figure collection but cannot afford it to try out and it seems to be a real way to get and keep them intrrested in wargames.
Anyone else tried these?
