I generated a system using the rules in the Rogue Trader Stars of Inequity supplement, and decided to write it up lime this. Bonus points if you've read the relevant adventure and recognise the probe referred to.

My liege

We have finished interpreting the data collected by the probe when sent into system designate( temporary) protos. By all measures the test of its measures has prooved an astound success and it has relayed plentiful information regarding the system.

Firstly, the system is bome to a void faring species. From interception and translation of various transmissions their name translates roughly to ‘the seekers of heat'. All in all they have six holdings in the sytem, all within the outer reaches.

The systems star is a vigourous blazing white, relatively young in stellar terms. The only physical object within the solar zone designate Inner Cauldron is Gas Giant designate (temporary) alpha. While I could give you more detail into appearance at the atmospheric makeup of alpha you have explicitly stated to limit unnecessary details not in relation to potential expansion. The only things of note is its unusually strong gravity, large dust ring, and a total of five lesser moons. Unfortunately the analysis indicates that not one of these moons holds mineral deposits of substantial value to make mining operations worthwhile. Furthermore, any vessel entering the inner cauldron is subject to the possibility of solar flares and an abnormaly high probability of gravitic shears. Thanks to a dust cloud this might be an area potentially favourable of luring in hostile forces consisting of superior numeriority, but this is of situational value only. What is commonly referred to as the habitable zone is in this case desolate, with nought but a dust cloud to mark it.

The outer reaches of this system are entirely different in nature, holding numerous potential assets of mineral nature. It is also the stronghold of the heat seekers, where all six of their holdings are located. It would be a mistake for their apparent confinentment to the reaches should not be attributed to technological ineptitude, as stated above the systems inner regions offer little reward and substantial risk. The innermost of these is a cluster of asteroids, indicationg the presence of one or more planetoids that were previously destroyed in fashion. Beyond this is also an asteroid belt. Both if these are are studded with mining facilities and patrolled with craft designed to break up asteroids in order to harvest the wealth within. Next in line is the systems sole planet, birthplace of the indigenous species. In orbit are two moons, each one host to further mining stations extracting limited amounts of industrially viable metal and large amounts of radioactive material repectivelly. The planet itself is highly unsuited to human life. The distance from the systems sun has resulted in it being entirely frozen temprature, an unprotected basline human would quickly die of exposure. This is not the only severe condition, a heavy and toxic atmosphere would necessitate heavy use of breathing apparatus. Likewise, local species would require their own unique form of pressure suit to survive our climes.

I am aware of the convention in which planetary enviroments are usually categorised by longitudinal and latitudinal boundries, planet designate (temporary) alpha's locations are better categorised by height. The planets mountain ranges are more like rocky outcroppings in a sea of ice. It is the home of any significant population of the heat seakers, as well as of the planetary mining operations. According to the probes intelligence the majority of the practically useable materials have been tapped out, leaving only ornamental deposits which the locals are ill inclined to use. The second environment are the great ice fields, barren and desolate, yet riven with tunnels of a local scavenger species. Other than their sheer expanse there is little of note about them. The existance of the third clime is purely theoretical, and the seekers do not even seem to wish to confirm its presence. According to their scientific theories there are places deep beneth the ice where it is warm enough for liquid water, and living organisms swarm around hydrothermal vents. The truth of this is unknown.

The final physical presence in the system is Gas Giant designate(temporary) beta. In contrast to its cauldron cousin the giant has only a single satellite, but one laden with mineral wealth of an industrial nature. As a result it harbours a substantial seeker presence. There are also clear records of gravitic shear events it the outer system, the seekers have deployed sarning buoys in areas where they are known to occur.

As per your requests pertaining to new xenos species I will attempt to summarise the data given on them. Physically they are a hunched over reptillian species, possessed of winhs designed primarilly for gliding. Here I must explain just how much their planet has shaped their culture and beliefs. According to their scientific rationale, life on their planet originated deep beneath the ice, in tbe pockets of water created by hydrothermal vents. Later, as organisms evolved, some migrated up through the ice and to their present location. As a result the cavernous depths are regarded with an almost holy reverence. Another very important fact of life on planet designate alpha is the total lack of any type of flora. The only other species are a type of scrawny, quick moving, burrower creatures that inhabit the ice plains. Both these and their technologically advanced cousins are scavengers, feeding of the corpses of anything they come across. Since there is so little food the seekers feed of their own dead, and one of their great taboos regarding space is that their bodies might be lost to the void. They are also slow reproducing, and the majority of their industry and off planet holdings are automated. Any other scavenger species were almost certainly driven to extinction in the past, outcompeted by the seekers aerial spotting power and the other scavengers ability to burrow into the ice. Knowing your lieges preference to make trade and not war with xenos such as these may I suggest trading food with them. Such supplies would most likely be seen with awe, and could potentiallly boost their population. I velieve that according to the intelligence layed out before ne they would willingly trade minerals and technology for food.

Your loyal servant.

Addendum: As you can see the probe succesfully gathered a large quantity of data on The Seekers of Heat. I am surprised and somewhat concerned with this, I do not believe this information could be gathered by monitoring their communications alone. I am aware that you have given me yousr assurances on this, but please consider carefully before using it again. It has proven itself invaluable, but dark gifts often do.
