Wasn't quite sure where to put this, as the Painting and Modeling forum didn't quite fit the bill, but Off Topic isn't exactly on the mark either. Regardless, here goes.

So over the years I have found green stuff, alongside leftover sprue plastic, to be very useful far beyond their intended purposes.

A few days ago I got my hands on an airsoft ICS GLM Six Cylinder Grenade Launcher used for almost nothing (traded two broken airsoft guns for it and some coin, but not a lot.) As it turned out, a brace that held the trigger mechanism in place for the launcher had snapped, causing the trigger assembly to "fall" down and not engage the cylinder actuator, the end result being the the cylinder would not rotate properly.

After disassembling the thing almost completely (as I had never actually seen one of these in person before, and had no idea how it worked) I identified the issue and proceeded to try and fix it. I ended up shaving down what was left of the broken brace, and replacing it with a piece of cut down sprue plastic, held in place and reinforced with greenstuff. I let it cure over night, re-assembled the launcher, and now it works just fine.

So anyone else find unusual uses for greenstuff, whether it be repairs and building something? Let's hear it! (Interesting modeling uses also allowed)

As far as I know, there is a mixture of greenstuff and milliput still holding a computer fan in place in The Back Of Beyond, Scotland after 7 years.

A couple of PC Case repairs and so on.

When I were Poor Student, I repaired the sole of my boots with the steel wire I used for pinning and some milliput, lasted Long Enough.

Milliput + Green Stuff + Steel Wire is duct tape in 3 dimensions

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

My Ikea wall mirror had a crooked mounting. Put a thick roll of Greenstuff on it, pushed it down on the screw in the wall until it was level, took it down again and let it dry. Still holds the 20ish kg mirror after 3(?) years.

Not green stuff but I found a use for
Super glue. Multiple times. Model glue seems to be higher quality and set faster.

Clippers. They eat plastic unlike kitchen grade tools

Hobby knife and hand held drill /file.
Repaired some of my dad's tools that was caped in cement mess so we could get to battery.

Drilled. Filed and cut slowly though a years worth of gunk I'm about 10 minutes.

Hobby taught me a few useful skills

Used some to fix some wall plugs for a fishing gear mount.

Managed to bore all 4 holes into the gaps in the bricks, so the plugs didn't have enough traction to expand.
Couple of wads of GS fixed that, still hanging happy.

My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.

Another use for green stuff in airsoft.

I got my hands on a PTS Mega Arms LM4 (very nice airsoft training rifle, built like a real one.) Unfortunately the first owner butchered the poor thing, for some reason they thought that it'd be a great idea to take a dremel to parts of it.

That aside, I've been working to repair it, replacing quite a few components along the way. One of the component's I am going to modify. As it currently stands the bolt catch does not sit high enough, and as a result often slips. I'm going to try and apply a little bit of green stuff to the bottom of it, this should make it catch better when magazines are inserted.

Using greenstuff as an epoxy is technically the intended use, really.
