The possibilities with this new codex are just so exciting. I have updated the list as I played a tourney this weekend and went 2-1.

Won vs Necrons (just not fair for Necrons with no Codex)
Won vs Eldar Craftworld - Great match went down to the end
Lost vs Guard - Never lose track of time no matter what the round. I was ending my second turn and was told there was 18 minutes left. Opponent had nothing left to speak of but just needed to move those few units onto objectives. Live and learn!

9 Command points

Alaitoc Battalion

Spiritseer (Protect Jinx)
Spiritseer (Quicken/Restraint)
Rangers x5
Rangers x5
Rangers x5

Ynnari Battalion (do I need to name these Eldar as a craftworld?)

Yvraine
Eldrad
Spiritseer
5 Corsair Reavers (the 12 pt ones w/fly) 4 Shardcarbines and 1 Splinter Cannon
5 Corsair Reavers (the 12 pt ones w/fly) 4 Shardcarbines and 1 Splinter Cannon
5 Corsair Reavers (the 12 pt ones w/fly) 4 Shardcarbines and 1 Splinter Cannon
5 WraithGuard - D Scythes
7 Wraithblades - Axes and Forceshields
8 Reapers & 1 Exarch w/Tempus gun
6 Shining Spears & 1 Exarch w Lances
1 Waveserpent 3 Shuriken Cannon Vectored Engines

Please let me know what you think!

So, my only question is, why do you have all the Wraithguard, Wraithblades, Reapers, and shinning spears in the Ynnari detachment?
Pretty certain you could re-jigger it around and make a 3rd detachment to give those lovelies access to another Craftworld Ability.

Not sure what you mean they all soulburst due to ynnari army rules? They have to be ynnari to soulburst.

I like corsairs as a unit of 10 instead of 2 units of 5. Works better as a screening unit as it gives a better chance to get the wound for reckless abandon. Tho with phantasm it’s not as important now.

I’d try max out the reaper unit. You will only get one shot shooting them with wotp so better make it count.

You need to put the Serpent in the Alaitoc detachment. It gains nothing by being Ynnari and functions exactly the same if you put it in the Alaitoc detachment, but gets -1 to be hit.

Just make sure to note whatever unit you wish to embark on it as being <Alaitoc> so it can embark.
Remember that all CWE units MUST pick a CW to be from, even it they are not in a detachment that is entirely that CW.
So your WG can be in an Ynnari battalion AND be <Alaitoc>, but they won't get the Attribute because they aren't in a CW detachment.

No remnants for you. Must have CWE character as Warlord to get those and Yvraine must be your Warlord to open up Ynnari.

Not sure why you think my reapers will only shoot once, or soulburst once and then shoot. I played a tourney this weekend and only lost half of them one game. Finding line of site blocking is not usually too hard. Move them, soulburst from yvraine, shoot them and then fade and fire them back. Only reason i lost some was i did not try to hide them well enough. That was vs necrons, craftworld and guard tanks.

I leave the corsairs at 5 cause they jump forward shoot and assult usually giving me soulburst on a wraith unit. Rangers can screen if need be. Starting the game wit 5 or 6 units in reserve was great. Webway strike the wraithblades and if i get concerned either my reapers or bikes.

I lost to guard as my opponent was up there in age and took a very long time to do things. I went first and then during mu second turn as i was assulting was told there was 18 minutes till time. I had lost all my corsairs and 4 of my wraithblades! He had a maniticore on 4 wounds some hq's and two small units of troops left... one more round he is tabled. I did take out the harlies, added 5 more corsairs and then added more reapers and another wraithblade.

I am usually friendly about most games, but slow play irks me. I have called over the TO for that before. Slow rolling, slow moving, slow deployment. Not in a timed environment!

I do not think it was done on purpose, the guy was really really nice and the fact my list gets in your face real quick I learned that those stupid IG tanks overwatch a ton with double shots and rerolling.... I have found that armies like mine who have a lot to do in every turn will take longer. But I got bounced around tables as someone got sick and was not going to play so I started late as well. But top of second turn as I am ending my assult to find out I should have went for the objectives was REALLY REALLY frustrating. Lesson learned I need to keep the clock! My first two games both went to round 4 with time to spare.

FYI

Grinding Advance only applies to the following Shooting Phase. It would not apply to Overwatch.

Edit: Same for most re-rolls, depending on the source. If it was via Cadian "Born Soldiers", it is shooting phase only.

Well that is good to know, I was trying to hurry and just did not challenge anything. Astra Militarium is about as overpowered as you can get right now.

Reapers are just such a big threat that they will be priority one. Most competitive armies have a way to deal with them without too much issue.
Terrain definitely plays a part tho agreed.

Agree but with this army you have Shining spears and Wraithblades assaulting first turn. This seems to make people make hard choices. Wraithblades being Toughness 6 with 3 wounds and a 2+ 3++ with Protect are very very scary!

How are the Wraithblades assaulting on turn 1?

What is the purpose of Rangers?

What is the purpose of Corsairs?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

1) Webway + Quicken

2) Screening, camping and sniping

3) Anti-infantry that, when they die, should trigger SfD to nearby units.

Not even my list, but that seems to be the idea from what I can see (and since I am planning on using similar stuff in my Ynnari build).

Well, I don't think anyone will be running Ynnari after today.

Yep. GW thoroughly nerfed them.

I understand the reasoning for game mechanics and how difficult it is to keep track of units that have soulbursted... inturrupting your opponents turn to soul burst... But I am beyound frustrated at this point with these knee jerk rules changes. No other index army has their ARMY WIDE rule nerfed... not once but twice. I am so glad I never bough a Yvraine model ... and my yncarne can now sit next to my dark eldar and Tau armies that wont see any use till they get a codex! I was on the 8th edition train, I thought the improvements made the game more fun but now with this I am slowly getting ready to jump off the train again. GW really needs to get their @#$% together, Ynnari were not that over powered and imperial soup and smite spam are way worse.... Sorry just a little pissed I have to redo my entire army now...

Silver Lining: Confirmed Harlequins and Dark Eldar Codices in the pipeline. They did this to keep Ynnari from becoming OP with that in mind.

I am curious if Ynnari will get their own book or be an afterthought in either of those Codices or in a Chapter Approved.

Still disappointing though.

I actually hope that Ynnari do not get their own codex. There just aren't enough units for them....unless they mix and match specific units for the other 3 Aeldari factions instead of just saying to can add <Ynnari> to any unit.

If they do that, fine, but what I'd really like to see is Ynnari share a Codex with Harlies since both combined would still be less content than either CWE or DE.

I will respectfully disagree and hope you are wrong. Ynnari are a chance to improve the line as a whole, GW gave Eldar a horrible armywide rule! Now Harlies and dark Eldar have interesting army rules but need their bells and whistles (relics, warlord traits, strategems) but may take 4 months to get both!
