I had an idea for rules for a home-brew character, whom I usually play as Kaptin Badrukk. I haven't come up with a points value or power level, but I was thinking starting at 5 power when I run the beta tests. He's a buff-hero, designed to be with flash gitz and be hard to kill with small fire, and overwatch to protect the gitz. His primary powers are to self-heal and allow gitz around him to shoot more. I imagine larger weaponry, such as Lascannon and equivalents as well as Smites, would make pretty short work of him.

First impressions and CC are welcome! I want this character to be as balanced as I can make him.

Kaptin Garzok
Spoiler:

M: 5" WS: 3+ BS: 4+ S: 4 T: 5 W: 5 A: 3 Ld: 8 Sv: 4+

Weapons:
Choppa
Stikkbomb
Twin Snazzblastas:
12" Pistol 4 S: 4 ap: -1 d: 1

'Ere we go, Mob rule

Wierd Techy Spine: Each time this model loses a wound, roll a d6. On a roll of 5 or 6, that wound is not lost. If this model did not lose a wound during the last round, roll a d6 for each wound lost, and on a roll of 6 that wound is regained.

Tune ups: Once per turn, one unit of Flash gitz within 6" of this model may automatically roll a 6 when rolling for 'Gun-crazy Showoffs'

Faction Keywords: Ork

Keywords: Infantry, Character, Flash git, Kaptin Garzok

EDIT: for clarity.

Can you explain to us why you feel its necessary to add a cybork body and painboy rules latched onto a flash gitz character?
This in itself seems unbalanced.

I like the signum-like ability, but I think it should grant a +1 to hit rather than auto-6.

P.S. FnP mechanics rolls PER wound and not per instance of damage, so it will be equally resilient against heavier weapons and light weapons alike.

'weird techy spine' is a reference to his backstory, which involved a painboy using an alien implant on him and it gave him regenerative powers. I thought that might be overpowered, so I dropped his save, attacks and wounds characteristics down from the Badrukk base. I suppose to further weaken it, it could confer either just a 6+ FnP, limit one wound regen per turn, or both, or drop the regen altogether.

The other ability isn't meant to affect to-hit rolls; after shooting gitz roll a d6, and on a six they get to shoot a second time. I was thinking that a good buff for gitz would be one of them doing this automatically, but now to think of it you might be right. His survive-ability might make this a touch strong, so lets just say that those 6+ d6 rolls become a 5+ roll instead when around Garzok.

Other then those things, what else might be worthy of adjustments? Would what I changed suffice for those problems?

I think he should be either a 'ded tuff' flash git or a 'more killy' flash git, not both.

IMO, a homebrew character should always be slightly less powerful than its potential canon-counter part so that it's more acceptable in friendly games.

Going moar killy flash git character MAY overlap what badrukk offers. Purely my opinion though, this character is a bit of a stretch. He doesn't fill any empty niches, but just an improved version of Badrukk.

Perhaps you can design a Loota captain since there aren't any Loota based character. Give him a 5/6+ FnP with re-roll aura or signum ability, and call him "CYBORK KAPT'N LOOTHUR"

I can see that, that is good advice. Thank you for helping me out, Skchsan.

He is intended to compliment Badrukk, but I could see the potential to form very un-friendly death-stars with him, so maybe I should change his role in this regard. Keep Weird Techy spine and just drop Tune-ups altogether? Either that or drop his save and toughness a step, and drop the regen part of his FnP. Which might be more preferable?

EDIT: Ooh! Or give him 'gun-crazy showoff' from the gitz, drop tune-ups and make him affected by badrukk and make his gun a tad tougher. Instead of a buff hero he could just be a tougher flash git?

I think this can be better done as an upgrade to Kaptin entry in the datasheet w.o necessarily resulting to creating a new character for. Plus, I don't think it has the same amount of "flavor" as your initial draft, you nam sayin?

I know it's my suggestion but I think your initial idea can definitely work around lootas instead of flash gitz. Instead of the aura that buffs 'gun-crazy showoffs', instead make it so that it affects the deffgun abilities - 'Friendly Lootas within 6" of Cybork Kaptin Loothur roll 2d3 and discard the lowest when determining the number of shots it makes with its Deffgun.'
